Marcus bought pumpkins that weigh 8 lb, 11 lb, 23 lb, and 15 lb. What is the mean weight of his pumpkins?

Answer: Marcus has bought 4 pumpkins weighted 8 lb, 11 lb, 23 lb and 15 lb.

The mean weight of pumpkins is

Mean =\frac{Sum-of-weights-of-4-pumpkins}{Number-of-pumpkins}

         =\frac{8+11+23+15}{4}

         =\frac{57}{4}

         =14.3 lb

Therefore, the mean weight of his pumpkins is 14.3 lb

In this question, it is given that

Marcus bought pumpkins that weigh 8 lb, 11 lb, 23 lb, and 15 lb.

And we have to find the mean weight .

To find the mean weight, we will first add all the weights, then divide them by number of pumpkins which is 4.

So the mean weight is

Mean \ weight = \frac{8+11+23 +15}{4} = \frac{57}{4} = 14.25 lb

Therefore the mean weight is 14.25 lb .
