Why did many of the first island hopping battles in 1942 take place in the Solomon Islands
juin [17]
They want bases to strengthen the military attacks leading up to the main land of Japan. They also wanted to weaken the Japan's troops which were based on those islands. The reason they started with the Solomon Islands is that it would take a while for Japan to mobilize their troops to get to the Solomon Islands. It was also a major advantage point for the American troops to use as a naval base, or a air base I forget which, but it was a good idea at the time.

Identify three businesses who either contributed to or benefited from the growth of the railroads?
solong [7]

Answer:

Steel, oil, and agriculture businesses all benefited from the growth of railroads.

Explanation:

Because of railroads steel, oil, and agriculture became easier accessible resources.

Steel also contributed to the growth of railroads. The railroads were the biggest customers for the steel industry because thousands of miles of steel track were laid. In turn, the railroads had a great impact on the steel industry. To supply their biggest customers, steel producers developed cheap, efficient methods for the mass production of steel rails.

The railroad companies contributed to the development of the West by selling low-cost parcels of their western land for farming. Oil companies grew swiftly in this period, most notably the Standard Oil Company, founded by John D. Rockefeller.

Lastly, agriculture the railroads played an important part in agriculture by moving the goods to markets both within and outside of the state. Most of the dairy products were shipped to California, and the wheat was shipped either as grain or as flour to California and the southern states

"Kill the Indian, and Save the Man". Capt. Rihard H.Pratt
Alexxandr [17]

- They were severed from their original native culture and fully immersed into mainstream white American culture. A good example of this were the American Indian Boarding Schools that were created on the 19th and 20th centuries. In These boarding schools Native American children would be completely disconnected from their ethnic origins. They were educated in English, were not allowed to speak their native American language and had to give up their native American names and adopt European names.

- Several Supreme Court decisions deprived them of their own agency and independence in thir own affairs. Infantilizing them. United States v. Kagama (1886) ruled that Native Americans were destitute and incapable of protecting themselves and therefore under the total and direct protection and supervision of the US government.
