The correct answer is letter E

The Continental Blockade was a determination of the French emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte, for all European countries to close their ports to England's trade. The decree consisted of disadvantaging the British economy and weakening its power on the continent.

The mandatory and authoritarian agreement came shortly after the French Revolution in 1806 and lasted just over a year. The premise that the European market was under the monopoly of the British made the emperor take this attitude, in order to defend his domestic economy.

For this tactic to be successful, Napoleon Bonaparte would need the support of the countries that held the main ports of vessels, where commercial relations were intense.

The countries that supported the Continental Blockade began to notice a lack of a variety of colonial merchandise. The measure taken by Britain was being effective and was already beginning to bother the group of countries allied with Bonaparte.

However, after the British warship HMS Leopard bombed the American vessel USS Chesapeake, the United States of America passed the 1807 embargo law, ordering all British vessels to withdraw from American waters. The United States was part of the neutral countries, but negotiated in secret with both sides at war.
