The variable x represents the number of angelfish Carlos bought and the variable y represents the number of parrotfish he bought

.
Carlos bought 405 tropical fish for a museum display. He bought 8 times as many parrotfish as angelfish.

How many of each type of fish did he buy?

Which system of equations models this problem?

{x+y=405
y=8x

{x−y=405
y=8x

{x+4y=8
y=405x

X + y = 405
y = 8x

To solve:
Plug the second equation into the first and solve for x.
x + 8x = 405
9x = 405
Divide both sides by 9
x = 45

Use the second equation to find y.
y = 8(45)
y = 360

45 angelfish
360 parrotfish

Encuentra en cada producto notable el error o errores,enciérralo y escribe el resultado correcto.
lbvjy [14]

Given:

The equation is:

(2x+3y)(2x-3y)=4x^2+6y^2

To find:

The error in the given equation and correct it.

Solution:

We have,

(2x+3y)(2x-3y)=4x^2+6y^2

Taking left-hand side, we get

L.H.S.=(2x+3y)(2x-3y)

L.H.S.=(2x)^2-(3y)^2                 [\because a^2-b^2=(a-b)(a+b)]

L.H.S.=(2)^2(x)^2-(3)^2(y)^2       [\because (ab)^x=a^xb^x]

L.H.S.=4x^2-9y^2

It is not equal to right-hand side 4x^2+6y^2. In the right hand side, there must be a negative sign instead of positive sign.

Therefore, (2x+3y)(2x-3y)=4x^2-6y^2.

Considering the expression x/2 + y2. Which statements are true?Mark all that apply.
Svet_ta [14]

Answer:

  D.  8/2 +(-10)² = 104

Step-by-step explanation:

To find which statements are true, evaluate the expression for the given variable values. You do this by putting the numbers in place of the respective variables, then doing the arithmetic.

The respective expression values are ...

  A 83 ≠ 37 . . . . (4/2) +9² = 2 +81 = 83

  B 31 ≠ 61

  C 52 ≠ 61

  D 104 =104 . . . . true statement

__

I find it less tedious to write a function into a calculator or spreadsheet and let it do the repetitive math. Examples of the calculation are shown above.
