Learned helplessness: In psychology, the term learned helplessness is defined as a mental condition due to which an organism is enforced to tolerate an aversive or unpleasant stimuli. An organism dealing with learned helplessness often tends to be in a given situation even if it's escapable because the organism believes that it can not get out or so.
In other words, it is defined as the basic believes of a person that he or she is not capable of performing tasks because of having no control over the environment.
The reason that plantations sprang up in the South was due to the geography and climate of the Southern colonies areas. Tobacco, rice, cotton, sugar cane and indigo were valuable plants and grown as cash crops.
