Write a paragraph about why viruses are alive

Biology

Well, to be fair, this is a bit of a tough question because it's in question by some of the leading microbiologists right now.

But one argument for this is their ability to reproduce. Note that one of the leading arguments for something to be alive is that they are subject to evolution and hence natural selection: the statements for which argue that there has to be differentiation within a species (meaning there has to be different forms of each virus within a type of virus) and there has to be reproduction-- which is where the problem comes along (because viruses could only reproduce while in a host). So one argument that can be made that they are in-fact alive, is that they reproduce and is subject to evolution.

Do know however that this is HIGHLY controversial-- and if your teacher asks it, it's most likely not a right-or-wrong answer

If he does do it that way, maybe you could show off your brainy-bio knowledge by explaining to him why it shouldn't be so!

An atom of lithium (Li) forms an ionic bond with an atom of chlorine (Cl) to form lithium chloride. How are the valence electron
PtichkaEL [24]

Answer: The correct statement is electrons are transferred from the lithium atom to the chlorine atom.

Explanation:

Ionic bond is formed when there is complete transfer of electrons from one atom to another atom. The atom which donates electron is known as electropositive atom and the atom which accepts electron is known as electronegative atom.

Lithium is the 3rd element of the periodic table with electronic configuration 1s^22s^1

This atom can loose 1 electron and form Li^+ ion.

Chlorine is the 17th element of the periodic table with electronic configuration [Ne]3s^22p^5

This atom can gain 1 electron and form Cl^- ion.

Hence, n electron is transferred from lithium to chlorine atom which results in the formation of ionic bond.

Thus, the correct statement is electrons are transferred from the lithium atom to the chlorine atom.

Put the fats in order from the one that contains the greatest percentage of saturated fatty acids (1) to the one that contains t
olganol [36]

Answer:coconut oil, butter, palm oil, olive oil, canola oil.

Explanation: .

A saturated fat one whose fatty acid chains have all or predominantly single bonds. A fat is made of two kinds of smaller molecules which are glycerol and fatty acids. Fats are made of long chains of carbon (C) atoms while some carbon atoms are linked by single bonds (-C-C-) bonds others are linked by double bonds (-C=C-). These Double bonds will react with hydrogen to form single bonds causing them to be SATURATED, because when the second bond is broken, each half of the bond is then saturated with a hydrogen atom.

In terms of saturated fats acids composition by percentage according to ChartsBin statistics collector team 2011, Fat Composition in different Cooking Oils, ChartsBin.com, palm oil is 14.192, coconut oil is 91.92 canola is 7.46,palm oil 51.57, butter 65%-68%.Here you can see that the order of saturated fats from the highest gives- Coconut, butter, palm oil, olive oil and Canola as the last

How did the agricultural revolution lead to an increase in human population numbers? How did the agricultural revolution lead to
grin007 [14]

Answer:

The shift from a nomadic lifestyle to settling down on farms led to people producing more food to meet their nutritional needs, and therefore, having more children.

Explanation:

The agricultural revolution is in many ways the most important turning point in the development of the humans. The humans saw the potential in some of the wild crops and that they can cultivate them. In order to do so, the people had to settle and create farmlands, and so they did. For the first time the people started to produce their own food, and not just that they were producing, but it was in such a high amount that they were able to have food for the whole year and more. This resulted in a gradual increase of the human population, as the worry about food was no longer there, the people had shelters and were living in larger groups so they were protected from predators, and they were not risking and losing their lives while hunting larger animals. As the populations were growing, the settlements that had tens or hundreds of people started to grown, and they gave birth to the first towns and cities.

kvasek [131]

Water makes up approximately 60% of the human body and plays a vital role in regulating body temperature. Water’s High Heat Capacity is the property of water which allows it to prevent large fluctuations in body temperature.

Heat capacity is known as the capacity of a body to absorb heat energy. The heat capacity of water is high, which means that a very high temperature is required to change the temperature of the human body.

This property resists the sudden temperature changes in the body and hence the human body does not experience large fluctuations in temperature.
