During an election، 70% of the population voted. If 70,000 people cast their votes, what is the population of the town?
slava [35]

Answer:

100,000

Step-by-step explanation:

70,000 people = 70% of the population.

Divide 70,000 by 70 to get the number of population per 1%:

70000 ÷ 70 = 1000

Therefore, 1000 people represent 1% of the population.

To calculate 100% of the population, multiply the number of people representing 1% by 100:

1000 x 100 = 100,000

Therefore, the population of the town = 100,000

PLEASE HELP ME WITH IT.
scoundrel [369]

OK.  I did it.  Now let's see if I can go through it without
getting too complicated.

I think the key to the whole thing is this fact:

A radius drawn perpendicular to a chord bisects the chord.

That tells us several things:

-- OM bisects AB.
'M' is the midpoint of AB.
   AM is half of AB.

-- ON bisects AC.
'N' is the midpoint of AC.
   AN is half of AC.

--  Since AC is half of AB,
     AN is half of AM.
     a = b/2

Now look at the right triangle inside the rectangle.
'r' is the hypotenuse, so

                                            a² + b² = r²

But  a = b/2, so             (b/2)² + b² = r²

(b/2)² = b²/4                   b²/4   + b² = r²

Multiply each side by 4:     b² + 4b² = 4r²
                                       -  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  -
                                            0  + 5b² = 4r²
Repeat the
original equation:                a² +  b² =  r²

Subtract the last
two equations:                  -a² + 4b² = 3r²

Add  a²  to each side:              4b²  =  a² + 3r² .    <=== ! ! !

Let P be a predicate. Determine whether or not each of the following implications is true and give a brief English explanation f
den301095 [7]

Answer:

See answer below

Step-by-step explanation:

1), Probably, your implication is ∀x∃yP(x,y)⇒∃x∀yP(x,y).

This implication is false. Consider the predicate P(x,y):="x<y" for real numbers x,y. Then, ∀x∃yP(x,y) is true: for all real x, there exists some y greater than x (take y=x+1 for example). However, ∃x∀yP(x,y) is false, as it would imply that there exists some real number x such that x is smaller than all real numbers, which is not true (real numbers do not have a minimum or a lower bound).

A short explanation would be, even if for all elements you can find one that makes a predicate true, you can not find one element that makes the predicate true for all elements.

2) Again, I assume that the predicate is ∃x∀yP(x,y)⇒∀x∃yP(x,y)

This implication is false. Consider the predicate P(x,y):="x is integer and xy=0 " for real numbers x,y. Then ∃x∀yP(x,y) is true, we need to take x=0. However, ∀x∃yP(x,y) is false, if you take x=1/2, 1/2 will never be an integer, no matter the value of y.

A short explanation would be, even if you can find one element that makes a predicate true for all elements, you can not always take an arbitrary element and find some element that makes the predicate true.
