So you want to make 2 equations like this:
n+d=26
0.05n+0.10d=2
Now, use substitution and get d=26-n
plug that into the next equation and get

0.05n+0.10(26-n)=2
Distribute and combine like terms
0.05n+2.6-0.10n=2
2.6-0.05n=2
subtract 2.6 from both sides and you get

-0.05n=-0.6
Solve for n by dividing and you get
12 nickels.
Now, plug that into the first equation and you get
12+d=26
d=14

Three cards are drawn from a standard deck of 52 cards without replacement. Find the probability that the first card is an ace,
MrRissso [65]

Answer:

4.82\cdot 10^{-4}

Step-by-step explanation:

In a deck of cart, we have:

a = 4 (aces)

t = 4 (three)

j = 4 (jacks)

And the total number of cards in the deck is

n = 52

So, the probability of drawing an ace as first cart is:

p(a)=\frac{a}{n}=\frac{4}{52}=\frac{1}{13}=0.0769

At the second drawing, the ace is not replaced within the deck. So the number of cards left in the deck is

n-1=51

Therefore, the probability of drawing a three at the 2nd draw is

p(t)=\frac{t}{n-1}=\frac{4}{51}=0.0784

Then, at the third draw, the previous 2 cards are not replaced, so there are now

n-2=50

cards in the deck. So, the probability of drawing a jack is

p(j)=\frac{j}{n-2}=\frac{4}{50}=0.08

Therefore, the total probability of drawing an ace, a three and then a jack is:

p(atj)=p(a)\cdot p(j) \cdot p(t)=0.0769\cdot 0.0784 \cdot 0.08 =4.82\cdot 10^{-4}

uppose germination periods, in days, for grass seed are normally distributed and have a known population standard deviation of 2
natka813 [3]

Answer: 0.701

Step-by-step explanation:

Formula :  EBM =z_{\alpha/2}\dfrac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}} , where \alpha= significance level , \sigma = Population standard deviation, n= sample size.

As per given,  n= 22

\sigma = 2

Critical z- value for 90% confidence level : z_{\alpha/2}=1.645

Then,

 EBM =(1.645)\dfrac{2}{\sqrt{22}}\\\\=(1.645)\dfrac{2}{4.690416}\\\\\approx0.701

Hence ,  error bound (EBM) of the confidence interval with a 90% confidence level= ± 0.701

Two cars leave Phoenix and travel along roads 90 degrees apart. If Car 1 leaves 30 minutes earlier than Car 2 and averages 42 mp
beks73 [17]

Answer:

C. 210 miles.

Step-by-step explanation:

If Car 1 left 30 minutes earlier

than Car 2 therefore Car 2 traveled 3 hours

compared to Car 1's 3.5 hours

Car 1 traveled 3.5 x 42 mph = 147 miles

Car 2 travelled 3 x 50 mph = 150 miles

The distance between them would be

√147^2 + 150^2

= 210
