carbon = 42.1% hydrogen = 6.5% oxygen = 51.4% First lookup the molar mass of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. mass of carbon = 12.0107 mass of hydrogen = 1.00794 mass of oxygen = 15.999 Now calculate the molar mass of each element in sucrose multiplying the atomic weight of each element by the number of times the element is used. carbon = 12 * 12.0107 = 144.1284 hydrogen = 22 * 1.00794 = 22.17468 oxygen = 11 * 15.999 = 175.989 Calculate the molar mass of sucrose by adding the mass of each element used. 144.1284 + 22.17468 + 175.989 = 342.2921 Finally, calculate the percentage by mass of each element by dividing the mass used for each element by the total mass of sucrose. carbon = 144.1284 / 342.2921 = 0.421068 = 42.1% hydrogen = 22.17468 / 342.2921 = 0.064783 = 6.5% oxygen = 175.989 / 342.2921 = 0.514149 = 51.4%

At − 12.0 ∘ C , a common temperature for household freezers, what is the maximum mass of sorbitol (C6H14O6) you can add to 2.00
allochka39001 [22]

Answer:

2,347.8 grams

Explanation:

The freezing point depression Kf of water = 1.86° C / molal.

To still freeze at -12° C, then the molality of the solution 12/ 1.86 = 6.45 moles

The molecular weight of sorbitol (C6H14O6)is:

6 C = 6 ×12 = 72

14 H = 14 × 1 = 14

6 O = 6 × 16 = 96

...giving a total of 182

So one mole of sorbitol has a mass of 182 grams.

Since there are 2 kg of water, 2 × 6.45 moles = 12.9 moles can be added to the water to get the 12° C freezing point depression.

Therefore

grams = moles × molar mass

12.9 moles × 182 grams / mole = 2,347.8 grams of sorbitol can be added and still freeze

Margarita [4]
Burning of the candle is both physical and chemical change.burning of the candle causes the candle to melt the wax.so the wax has changed it was solid now it is liquid.the wax combines with the atmospheric oxygen and changes to carbon dioxide, heat and light.thus both the changes are accompanied by the burning of the candle.
