Characters of the fossils of dinosaur indicate that
reptiles are closely related to birds
The general principle states that the present is the key to
the past. Dinosaurs are creatures of the past but from their fossils, it’s
evident that they are actually related to the present day birds. The shape of
the pelvis is one of the most common characters that link birds to dinosaurs. The
feature of the pelvic girdle shows that dinosaur-Deinonychus and the earliest
fossil bird Archaeopteryx are closely related; suggesting that birds are
closely related to dinosaurs.
Further, birds have feathers and reptiles have tough beaded
skin or scales. Although birds don’t resemble any living reptile, scientists
suggest that birds actually evolved from reptiles. One of the characteristic
that makes scientists believe so is that both birds and reptiles lay eggs and share several skeletal characteristics,
such as the way their jaws attaches to the skull. According to the fossils recovered
from the Solnhofen Limestone of Germany, it’s true to say that birds and
reptiles share a lot of characteristics. The fossils have a wishbone,
consisting of the fused clavicle bones so typical of birds and closely resemble
small theropod dinosaurs.
Another fossil in China suggest that theropods had feathers,
providing more evidence for this relationship. We cannot exhaust the
characteristics relating birds to reptiles but we have discussed some rigid and
proved evidence that relate birds to reptiles and dinosaurs.
A 21-year-old collegiate football player regularly performs squats and lateral arm holds as part of his exercise routine. These serve as <u>isometric exercise </u>examples.
<h3>What are isometric exercises?</h3>
Exercises called isometrics cause muscles to contract without causing the surrounding joints to move. Muscle endurance may be enhanced and dynamic activities may be supported by the constant strain on the muscles.
Exercises for strengthening muscles entail moving the joints while pushing or pulling against resistance using the muscles. Isometric workouts, on the other hand, call for prolonged retention of still poses.
Isometric workouts tighten certain muscles without causing the surrounding joints to move. Isometric workouts can help with posture and physical endurance by stabilizing and developing the muscles by providing continual tension to them.

big bang theory- the theory that states that the universe formed by rapid expansion of matter and energy from an initial infinitely small, dense point
biological species- a group of interbreeding organisms that can produce fertile offspring
eukaryotic cell - a type of cell that has a membrane-bound nucleus and membrane-bound organelles
evolution- the process by which inherited characteristics within a population change over generations
fossil- remains or traces of organisms preserved over long periods of time
geologic time scale- an organizational chart that chronologically divides the natural history of earth into eras and
periods
homologous structures- structures that occur in different species but are similar enough to suggest that the species had a common ancestor
natural selection- the process by which species pass on the beneficial traits that help them survive
prokaryotic cell- a type of cell without a membrane-bound nucleus and without membrane-bound organelles, considered by scientists to be a more primitive type of cell than the more complex eukaryotic cells
selective breeding- the process of breeding organisms with the most desirable traits
speciation- when natural selection leads to an entirely new species
theory- an explanation or model of related natural events that can be tested by observations or experiments
vestigial structures- structures that appear to have no function for the organism but probably had a function in an ancestral organism
