Percent means parts out of 100
70%=70/100=7/10
7/10 of x=28
'of' means multiply
7/10 x=28
multiply both sides by 10/7 to get rid of fraciton
x=40

the number is 40

What is a detailed example of simple interest?
Sonbull [250]

Answer:

Car loans, amortized monthly, and retailer installment loans, also calculated monthly, are examples of simple interest; as the loan balance dips with each monthly payment, so does the interest. Certificates of deposit (CDs) pay a specific amount in interest on a set date, representing simple interest

What is the zero in the quadratic function f(x)= 9x^2-54x-19?
Alex17521 [72]

Answer:

6.33... and 0.333...

Step-by-step explanation:

The quadratic formula is

x=\frac{-b+\sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{2a}.

It is important because while some quadratics are factorable and can be solved not all are. The formula will solve all quadratic equations and can also give both real and imaginary solutions.  Using the formula will require less work than finding the factors if factorable. We will substitute a=9, b=-54 and c=-19.

x=\frac{-b+/-\sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{2a}\\x=\frac{-(-54)+/-\sqrt{(-54)^2-4(9)(-19)} }{2(9)}\\x=\frac{54+/-\sqrt{2916+684} }{18}

We will now solve for the plus and the minus.

The plus,,,

x=\frac{54+\sqrt{3600}}{18}\\x=\frac{54+60}{18}\\x=\frac{114}{18}\\x=6.3

and the minus...

x=\frac{54-\sqrt{3600}}{18}\\x=\frac{54-60}{18}\\x=\frac{-6}{18}\\x=-0.333...

the temperature is already at 40 degrees it rises 4.5 degrees per minute how long will it take to get to 76 degrees
Andrei [34K]

Answer:

It will take 8 minutes for the temperature to reach 76°

Step-by-step explanation:

The expression for the total temperature in degrees at time t can be written as;

T=I+EM

where;

T=total temperature

I=initial temperature

E=temperature increase per minute

M=number of minutes

This can also be written as;

total temperature=initial temperature+temperature increase per minute×number of minutes

In our case;

T=76°

I=40°

E=4.5°

M=m

replacing;

76=40+(4.5×m)

4.5 m=76-40=36

(4.5 m)/4.5=36/4.5

m=8

It will take 8 minutes for the temperature to reach 76°
