Tradicionalmente, las familias suelen ser numerosas. Por sus raíces Lolarias suelen casarse jóvenes, tanto hombres como mujeres. En la boda gitana la virginidad es importante en las mujeres solteras, y cuando esta es legitimada suele ser mostrada con buen recibimiento por parte de las familias, mediante la prueba del pañuelo, aunque también hay otras formas de casamiento que son más o menos aceptadas siempre que ellos (la pareja) estén conformes, en este caso los tutores y padres acaban por ayudarles. En ocasiones se realiza el ajuntamiento sin estar la novia comprometida oficialmente, y en muchas ocasiones la virginidad de la mujer queda en el anonimato entre la pareja, y viven juntos avisando de que quedan emparentados.
