The most basic form of Spanish verbs is the infinitive. So infinitive verbs aren't conjugated and doesn't tell us anything about who is performing an action or the tense of the sentence. Thus, we need to translate the phrase by finding the infinitive and conjugating it to match the subject.

1. Right answer:

ayudas

Ayudas is the conjugation of the verb ayudar for the second person singular in the simple present. The simple present tense is used to talk about habitual actions or routines. This tense is also used to describe things that happen now or in the near future. Therefore, we have:

IN ENGLISH:

You help

IN SPANISH:

Tú ayudas

2. Right answer:

cenan

Cenan is the conjugation of the verb cenar for the third person plural in the simple present. This person matches ellos and means they in English. On the other hand, to have dinner translates into cenar Therefore, we have:

IN ENGLISH:

They have dinner

IN SPANISH:

Ellos cenan

3. Right answer:

esperan

Esperan is the conjugation of the verb esperar for the third person plural in the simple present. As you can see, we also use they (ellos) here. On the other hand, to wait translates into esperar that is a verb meaning a period of time during you wait for something. Therefore, we have:

IN ENGLISH:

They wait

IN SPANISH:

Ellos esperan

4. Right answer:

respondes

Respondes is the conjugation of the verb responder for the second person singular in the simple present. This person is tú and matches you in English. On the other hand, to answer translates into responder. Therefore, we have:

IN ENGLISH:

You answer

IN SPANISH:

Tú respondes

Compare and contrast the story called THE TELL-TALE HEART?
ExtremeBDS [4]

Answer:

Short stories are favorites of readers who don’t want to commit to a full book, and Edgar Allan Poe is a favorite author among them. One of Poe’s more known stories is “The Tell-Tale Heart”, which is about how a man murdered his older housemate and was then overwhelmed by the dead man’s heartbeat of guilt. The original version has greater impact than the rewritten version because, although similar in pacing and plot, the differences of writing style and characterization between the versions affects readers more. For the first example, both the original and rewritten versions of “The Tell-Tale Heart” share literary devices such as pacing and a similar plot. The original version includes,” At length it ceased. The old man was dead. I removed the bed and examined the corpse. Yes, he was stone dead.”(Poe). Poe’s use of shorter sentences demonstrates the narrator’s excitement at the death of the old man. Hemphill’s version states “All at once the lantern was thrown wide open, and I shrieked with the voice only a frail man could have if he were about be killed.”. The rewritten version includes shorter sentences similar to Poe’s that pace the story to excite the reader and to build suspense.
