Hello!

An initial observation is the first thing a scientist notices about a topic before conducting the experiment. We can see that it is the first thing in the paragraph in this case, that dandelions grow as unwanted weeds in many lawns.

The hypothesis is the guess about the result of an experiment made before the experiment is conducted. In this case, it is that a weed killer (Killimal) would kill all the dandelions while leaving the grass healthy. This is not specifically a guess made by the scientist, but more like a prediction he wanted to verify.

An independent variable is the variable being changed in the experiment by the scientist. Here, it is whether Killimal was sprayed or not.

The dependent variable is the variable being measured, and the one being affected by the independent variable. His observation would be whether the grass and dandelions would be killed. This is because the weed killer would be directly affecting whether or not these would be killed.

The control variables are ones which are kept the same in the experiment as to not interfere with the final results. In this case, it would be the density of dandelions, the amount of sunlight, and the amount the plants were watered. These were kept exactly the same, as they could've affected the dependent variable if changed.

The control group was the one that is not impacted by the independent variable. The control group makes sure that it actually is the independent variable affecting the dependent, and it isn't some outside unknown variable. This would be the plot without the Killimal.

The experimental group is the one being experimented on from the independent variable. This would be the plot with the Killimal.

Hope this helps!

Which of the following plant cell structures could not be seen when using the 10X objective of the compound microscope?

Endoplasmic Reticulum

ER Golgi apparatus, because it packages proteins received from the ER cytoplasm

The Golgi body are the ones that slightly alter, organize and prepare so-called parcels to be delivered for all the organelles in the cell. They receive these packages mainly in the rough endoplasmic reticulum. These packages that set out by Golgi body are macromolecules that used and synthesized by cells in many operations. If ER is absent then it would only mean that Golgi body would have no use other than simply lysosomes but these macromolecules plays a dynamic role in many organelles –nutrients, ATP and cell metabolism. It'll have a ripple effect if ER is absent in the cell.

Compare the normal allele for hemoglobin with the sickle cell allele. How does this difference affect the person’s red blood cel
Readme [11.4K]

Answer:

Sickle cell anemia is an inherited condition in which there aren't enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen through an individual's body. The red blood cells of a healthy individual are flexible and round, and they move through blood vessels with no problem, transporting oxygen successfully. However, a person with sickle cell anemia has rigid, sticky red blood shaped like sickles or crescent moons. These cells often get stuck in small blood vessels, which can slow or block blood flow and oxygen delivery to different parts of the body.

The sickle cell anemia trait is found on a recessive allele of the hemoglobin gene, while the regular red blood cell trait is found on the dominant allele. This means that a person must have two copies of the recessive allele (one from their mother and the other from their father) to be born with this condition. People who have one dominant and one recessive allele or both dominant alleles will have healthy red blood cells.
