Answer:

A

Explanation:

All cells undergo division. They employ mitotic and meiotic division process. Mitosis is undergone by all cells while meiosis is peculiar to reproductive cells.

Mitosis is a type of cell division that results in two daughter cells which are identical to each other and the original cell that divided. They are identical in the sense that they have the same number of chromosomes and exact copies as the parent cell. Mitosis is used by organisms for growth and multiplication. Hence it is called DUPLICATION division. It is a one division cycle that separates sister chromatids into two identical cells.

Meiosis, on the other hand, is a cell division that results in four daughter cells (gametes) which have their chromosomal number reduced by half. During meiosis, a two step division occurs viz: Meiosis I and Meiosis II.

Meiosis I involves the separation of homologous pair of chromosomes (similar but non-identical chromosomes received from each parent) into two cells. These cells are now haploid (n).

Meiosis II, which is similar to mitosis, involves the separation of sister chromatids (duplicated chromosome). Hence in total, 4 daughter cells with as half as many chromosomes as the parent cell results.

N.B: Meiosis is used by reproductive cells to produce gametes. These gametes must be haploid in order to ensure that after fertilization with another haploid gamete (opposite), a diploid organism results.

The answer is A. Mitosis results in daughter cells through one division cycle while meiosis results in haploid gametes through two division cycles.

A man with normal vision marries a color-blind woman. Red-green color blindness is an X- linked recessive disorder. They have a
jeyben [28]

Answer: The probability is 100%.

Explanation: The chromosome X is related to gender. A man carries two different chromosomes (XY) and a woman carries two similar chromosomes (XX). The offspring of a couple will inherited:

 • If it is a boy, he inherites the chromosome Y from his father and X from his mother;
 • If it a girl, she inherites X from her father and X from her mother;

In the question, the woman is color-blind, which means she carries the recessive alleles: X^{d}X^{d}

The man, on the other hand, is normal, so his X-linked genotype will be: X^{D}Y.

Now, since they have a daughter, she inherited her double X from each of her parents, which means she inherited one X^{d} from her mother and one X^{D} from her father.

So, the daughter's genotype can only be heterozygotic X^{D}X^{d} in other words, the probability is 100%.

DNA is a nucleic acid molecule that undergoes a replication process to form a new daughter strand. The blue segment is the parental strand, and the yellow is the daughter strand.

What is replication?

Replication is the process of the central dogma that duplicates the copy of the parent strand into new daughter strands. The two helixes of the parent strand get separated to make the complimentary copy of the new strand.

The daughter DNA is semi-conservative and are complementary structure made from the duplication of the parent strand with the help of the replication enzymes.

Therefore, the daughter strands are the semi-conservative copies of the parental strand.

Can you identify the process by which natural selection acts on an insect population exposed to pesticides?
NeTakaya

Identify the process by which natural selection acts on Change in Population the surviving insects reproduce. The frequency of resistant insects in the population increases.

 • Pesticides are any poisonous substances that are employed to kill animals, fungi, or plants and cause financial loss to crops or ornamental plants or pose a risk to domestic animals' or humans' health.
 • A pesticide is used on an insect population. Some insects possess a trait that renders them pesticide resistant. These flies remain. Without the gene, insects perish.
 • Insects that are still alive reproduce. Insects that are resistant are becoming more prevalent. Ecological Change Insecticide is used on a population of them.
 • Choosing Pressure Some insects have a trait that renders them pesticide resistant. These bugs are persistent. Without the gene, insects perish.

Andrej [43]

The answer is Proteomics.

Proteomics is a discipline of study that involves an examination of proteins and how the proteins encoded by genes interact to produce cell and tissue types.

What is Proteomics?

The extensive study of proteomes is known as proteomics. An organism, system, or biological setting produces a set of proteins known as a proteome. We might speak of an organ or a species' proteome (like that of Homo sapiens) (for example, the liver). The proteome is dynamic; it varies from cell to cell and alterations occur over time. The underlying transcriptome is somewhat reflected in the proteome. However, in addition to the relevant gene's expression level, a number of other factors also affect protein activity, which is frequently measured by the rate at which the processes in which the protein is engaged react.

Proteomics is employed to look into:

 • When and where do proteins expressed.
 • rates of protein synthesis, degradation, and abundance at steady state.
 • how proteins are altered, for as by phosphorylation and other post-translational modifications (PTMs).
 • the transfer of proteins among subcellular spaces.
 • protein involvement in metabolic processes.
 • what interactions proteins have with one another.
