What was the main effect of the Moors’ expansion into Spain in the 700s?
Delvig [45]
It led to conflicts between Muslims and Christians in the Region.

Muslims of North Africa, known as the Moors, had a powerful military and Navy by the 7th Century.

Early skirmishes led them to conquer Gibraltar (named after Arab Solider, Tariq), Grenada and eventually controlling most of modern-day Spain and Portugal.

The Moors were able to establish one of the most prosperous kingdoms at the time, called the Emirate of Cordoba.

While one of the richest places in the world, the Northern region of the Emirate was always in danger of Christian rulers, who wanted to reconquer what they believed was their own land.

Over centuries, numerous Skirmishes between Christian lords and Muslims rulers resulted in a deep mistrust among one another.
