Answer:

A. a debatable thesis statement

D. textual evidence to support the thesis

Explanation:

Correct:

A. a debatable thesis statement

In all essays with a thesis, the thesis statement has to be debatable. Otherwise, it is only a fact. A thesis statement is a main argument and its sub-arguments (supporting points). The main argument is based on your opinion of a topic.

D. textual evidence to support the thesis

When writing literary analysis essays, you need to refer to your source, which is the original story. This helps to support your essay's main argument. When referencing the source, include the act and line numbers.

Incorrect:

B. a broad essay topic

The essay topic should be specific and focus on one aspect that you want to discuss. An essay that covers a broad topic would either be too long, or the thesis, which is based on your topic, would not be well-argued.

C. an extensive summary of the plot

A literary analysis essay does not need to summarize the plot because you assume the audience has already read the story. The essay will probably include plot analysis and a brief summary, but not an extensive one.

The answer to your question would be that suspense is created in the passage partly due to it being written in the third person limited point of view. That is, your answer would be C.

In the third person limited point of view, the narrator follows the thoughts and feelings of only one character. One character is closely followed throughout the story, and it is typically the main character. In this case, the narrator only follows Rainsford, someone else is seeing and narrating how he feels and that is what builds up the suspense.

In the story "the most dangerous game" the hunt encompasses wich two types of external conflict?
Papessa [141]

In the story "the most dangerous game" the hunt encompasses two types of external conflict that are:

 • Man versus Man and,
 • Man versus Nature

The external conflict of Man versus man arises between General Zaroff and Rainsford, where Zaroff is fighting for the goal of fun and amusement whereas, Rainsford fight for the goal of escape and survival. Hence, this feud depicts the clash between morality and philosophy. This leads to physical dispute between them in which Rainsford wins, as he has nothing to lose and he was willing to lose his life to win over Zaroff.

In the other conflict of man versus nature, it occurs when Rainsford lays the trap and trails in the jungle, hence nature creates its own natural obstacles.

“The ground grew softer under his moccasins”, “ The vegetation grew ranker, densely”, “Mosquitoes bit him” and “his foot sank into the ooze”.

Rainsford was able to flee to fewer places due to water all around and high rocky cliffs.
