first you havw to use distributive property so that way you can combine 3 and 6x so the equation will now be

2x+ 18x=  - 20

next combine like terms

20x= -20

finally in order to get x on its own you have to divide 20  by both sides

20x/ 20 = - 20/ 20

or

x= -1
