Correct answer: C. buying and selling

The securities that are being bought and sold are government securities. Government securities are bonds or other financial certificates sold by the government. As Investopedia explains in regard to "open market operations," the purchase of government securities brings money into the banking system, stimulating growth by stimulating the money supply. The selling of government securities does the opposite, contracting the economy. The Federal Reserve uses open market operations to adjust and monitor the federal funds rate -- in other words, the interest rate at which banks borrow from each other.

Dovator [93]

Answer:

a. $288,000

b. $190,000

Explanation:

The Accounting equation: Assets = Liabilities + Equity

a. Assets = Liabilities + Equity

382,000 = 94,000 + Equity

Equity = 382,000 - 94,000

= $288,000

b. Equity as of December 20Y9.

Account for the changes in assets and equity:

Assets = Liabilities + Equity

(382,000 - 63,000) = (94,000 + 35,000) + Equity

319,000 = 129,000 + Equity

Equity = 319,000 - 129,000

= $190,000

Many people have argued that an income tax should be "marriage neutral," that is, two people should pay the same total tax whe
worty [1.4K]

Answer:

Ben would pay more in taxes.

Explanation:

A progressive income tax increases the tax rate as the taxpayer earns more money.

In this case, Ben would be taxed as earnings $60,000 which is probably a much higher tax rate than the applicable one for $30,000. If we use the current tax brackets for 2020, Ben would fall under the 22% tax bracket while both Cathy and Dylan would fall under the 12% tax bracket. Obviously Ben would pay much more in taxes.
