You first add 2 and 10. There is a x next to the 2 which means double it. So that is 20. Then add 3 and 3 says x next to the 3 so that means it is 9. The y is 12 so that means that nothing close to it. What you could do is mix up the numbers so 10 x 3 is 30. Then 2 x 3 is 6. What you can do (I think) is 30 - 6 = 24. If you see 24 is half of 12 which you can then take 12 off and you get 12. I hope I am right!
