People need income in order to consume, and consumption leads to production, and production leads to higher demand for labor (em

ployment), so unemployment is a crucial macroeconomic issue that confronts all modern economies. A lower unemployment rate, however, is not the end of the problem. The type of employment and the price of labor (wages) have to be sufficient for consumption (which is the major component of GDP) for the economy to be healthy. If wages are low or if the prices in the economy are high, consumption would be low and thus, production and demand for labor would be low as well. So high unemployment rate, high part-time employment rate for economic reasons, and low wages could have negative effects on economic growth.

Y is inversley proportionaly to x. when y=7, x=9
mrs_skeptik [129]

The equation is y = 63/x

And y = 3 when x=21

Step-by-step explanation:

When y varies inversely with x, The inverse proportion is given by:

y ∝1/x

When the proportionality symbol is removed, a constant of proportionality is introduced

y = \frac{k}{x}

Putting y = 7 and x = 9

7 = \frac{k}{9}\\k = 9*7\\k = 63

So,

y = \frac{63}{x}

Putting x =21

y = \frac{63}{21}\\y = 3

Hence,

The equation is y = 63/x

And y = 3 when x=21

How many 4' x 8' sheets of plywood are required to cover a floor that is 9 m by 16 m?
Xelga [282]
Assuming no border or waste, 9m by 16 m translates to 29.52' x 52.49'.
use 32/8=4 sheets of plywood to cover the width on the 8' side.
For the length, use 52/4=13 pieces on the 4' side.
This gives a total of 4*13=52 sheets.
The extra 0.49' x 29.52 can be covered using the extra from the last four sheets for the width.

Check:
Area to be covered: 29.52*52.49=1550 sq. ft.
Area of plywood supplied = 52*4'x8'= 1664 sq. ft, > 1550 sq.ft.
