<span>he width is 5 feet and the length 10 feet

Let the width of the garden = W
Therefore the length = W + 5

The two sidewalks alongside the length are therefore W + 5 feet long by 2 feet wide = 2(W + 5) square feet each
The 2 sidewalks alongside the width = W feet long by 2 feet wide = 2W square feet each
In addition there are the 4 corners which are each 2 feet by 2 feet = 4 square feet each
Area of sidewalk is therefore

2 * lengths = 2 * 2(W + 5) = 4W + 20
2 * widths = 2 * 2W = 4W
4 corners = 4 * 4 = 16 square feet
But we are told that the area = 76 square feet
Therefore 4W + 20 + 4W + 16 = 76
8W + 36 = 76
8W = 40
W = 5
Therefore as the width is five feet the length is 5 + 5 = 10 feet</span><span>

Find the coordinates of the orthocenter of a triangle with vertices at each set of points on a coordinate plane. a. (0,0), (16
ANEK [815]

Answer:

The answer is below

Step-by-step explanation:

a) The equation of a line passing through the point (0,0) and (16,4) is given by:

y-y_1=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}(x-x_1)\\\\y-0=\frac{4-0}{16-4}(x-0)\\\\y=\frac{1}{4}x

We have to find the equation of the line perpendicular to y = (1/4)x and passing through the point (4,6).

The line perpendicular to y = (1/4)x has a slope of -4 (product of their slope = -1).

Hence:

y- y_1=m(x-x_1)\\\\y-6=-4(x-4)\\\\y-6=-4x+16\\\\y=-4x+22

The slope of a line passing through the point (16,4) and (4,6) is given by:

m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\\\\m=\frac{6-4}{4-16}=-\frac{1}{6}

We have to find the equation of the line perpendicular to  the line with slope of -1/6 and passing through the point (0,0).

The line perpendicular to a line with slope -1/6 has a slope of 6

Hence:

y- y_1=m(x-x_1)\\\\y-0=6(x-0)\\\\y=6x

Solving y = 6x and y  = -4x + 22, gives:

x = 2.2, y = 13.2

Hence the orthocenter is at (2.2, 13.2)

b)

The slope of a line passing through the point (3,4) and (11,12) is given by:

m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\\\\m=\frac{12-4}{11-3}=1

We have to find the equation of the line perpendicular to  the line with slope of 1 and passing through the point (8,15).

The line perpendicular to a line with slope 1 has a slope of -1

Hence:

y- y_1=m(x-x_1)\\\\y-15=-1(x-8)\\\\y=-x+8+15\\\\y=-x+23

The slope of a line passing through the point (11,12) and (8,15) is given by:

m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\\\\m=\frac{15-12}{8-11}=-1

We have to find the equation of the line perpendicular to  the line with slope of -1 and passing through the point (3,4).

The line perpendicular to a line with slope -1 has a slope of 1

Hence:

y- y_1=m(x-x_1)\\\\y-4=1(x-3)\\\\y=x-3+4\\\\y=x+1

Solving y = -x + 23 and y  = x + 1, gives:

x = 11, y = 12

Hence the orthocenter is at (11, 12)

Find the area of a rectangle with a base of 7 feet and a height of 13 1 2 feet. The area of the rectangle is square feet.
Sladkaya [172]

I am answering the question assuming that you meant that the height was 13 1/2 feet.

Answer = 94.5 square feet

Step-by-step explanation: Area is calculated by multiplying the length x width.

Area = 7 x 13.5

Area = 94.5

Which of the following statements is true?
777dan777 [17]
The first one is correct.
There is a VERY simple way you can do this
Here is how.
It's called the "Butterfly Method" (IDK if anyone calls it that, but I do!)
So basically, you look at the numerator for one of your numbers, and the denominator of the other number, and you multiply them! So...
1/7, you would take the seven...
1/4, and multiply it by the one...
so 7×1
and you get seven!
Then you do...
1/7, take the one...
1/4, take the four...
so 1×4
and you get four!
Whichever one is bigger (or smaller, but only if you are trying to find out which fraction is smaller...) is your answer!
Hope this helped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
