Most fully-formed galaxies reside in small groups and clusters, where they can interact with other galaxies. These interactions

can have major effects on the characteristics of a galaxy. Use the labels to complete the descriptions of how interactions can cause galaxies to evolve over time.
a. A starburst galaxy is characterized by a rapid and intense period of star formation
b. A minor galaxy merger in which a large galaxy consumes a smaller galaxy is calledgalactic cannibalism
c. As two galaxies interact and strip stars from each other, a tidal stream of stars can form
d. When two large galaxies collide, a major merger occurs, turning spirals into ellipticals with no ongoing star formation

Answer:

B. A minor galaxy merger in which a larger galaxy consumes a smaller galaxy in the act of galactic cannibalism.

Explanation:

If this is a situation that makes the most sense, B would be correct, as this can already be observed with the Local Group. Hence, the fact the Milky Way and the Andromeda Galaxy are hurling at eachother, in which the Andromeda galaxy will merge with the Milky Way and become the dominant galaxy of the Local Group over billions of years.

The tungsten filament of a light bulb has an operating temperature of about 2 100 K. If the emitting area of the filament is 1.0
Murljashka [212]

Answer:

75 W

Explanation:

T = temperature of the filament = 2100 K

A = Emitting area of the filament = 1 cm² = 10⁻⁴ m²

e = Emissivity = 0.68

\sigma = Stefan's constant = 5.67 x 10⁻⁸ Wm⁻²K⁻⁴

Using Stefan's law, Power output of the light bulb is given as

P = \sigma e AT^{4} \\P = (5.67\times10^{-8}) (0.68) (10^{-4}) (2100)^{4}\\P = 75 W

A force of 5 N produces an acceleration of 2 m/s2 on the object. What is the mass of the object?
hichkok12 [17]

Hello!

A force of 5 N produces an acceleration of 2 m/s2 on the object. What is the mass of the object ?

Data:

F (force) = 5 N

m (mass) = ?

a (acceleration) = 2 m/s²

Solving:

F = m*a

5 = m*2

2\:m = 5

m = \dfrac{5}{2}

\boxed{\boxed{m = 2.5\:kg}}\end{array}}\qquad\quad\checkmark

Answer:

2.5 kg

Four uniform objects having the same mass and diameter are released simultaneously from rest at the same distance above the bott
Jet001 [13]
The one with the majority of its mass furthest away from its center will reach the bottom last. The thin walled cylinder has all of its mass at the edge of itself, meaning its mass is the furthest from its center. If we take a look at the solid cylinder, it has some mass at its edge, but it also has a lot of mass very close to its center so it will roll faster than the thin walled cylinder. And the thin walled cylinder will be slower than the normal hollow cylinder because even though the hole cylinder doesn't have any mass at its center it does have some mass closer to its center than the thin walled cylinder.

So the last one to reach the bottom is the thin walled cylinder.
