The correct answer is 64 square units.

The area of the complete shape would be 100 square inches.
10 x 10 = 100

However, we have to remove the 4 corners. Each of the corners is 9 square inches. 3 x 3 = 9

100 - 4(9) = 64

The area of the complete square is:
 A1 = (10) * (10)
 A1 = 100in ^ 2
 The area of the corners is:
 A2 = (3) * (3)
 A2 = 9in ^ 2
 The area to use is:
 A = A1 - 4 * A2
 Substituting values:
 A = 100 - 4 * (9)
 A = 100 - 36
 A = 64 in ^ 2
 Answer:

The area of the cardboard you will use for your box is:

A = 64 in ^ 2

Answer:

  • Solution of equation ( x ) = <u>7</u>

Step-by-step explanation:

In this question we have given with an equation that is <u>4</u><u> </u><u>(</u><u> </u><u>5</u><u>x</u><u> </u><u>-</u><u> </u><u>2</u><u> </u><u>)</u><u> </u><u>=</u><u> </u><u>2</u><u> </u><u>(</u><u> </u><u>9</u><u>x</u><u> </u><u>+</u><u> </u><u>3 </u><u>)</u><u>.</u> And we are asked to solve this equation that means we have to find the value of <u>x</u><u>.</u><u> </u>

<u>Solution</u><u> </u><u>:</u><u> </u><u>-</u>

<u>\quad \longrightarrow \: 4 ( 5x - 2 ) = 2 ( 9x + 3 )</u>

<u>Step </u><u>1</u><u> </u><u>:</u> Removing parenthesis :

\quad \longrightarrow \:20x - 8 = 18x + 6

<u>Step </u><u>2</u><u> </u><u>:</u> Adding 8 from both sides :

\quad \longrightarrow \:20x - \cancel{ 8 }+  \cancel{8} = 18x + 6 + 8

On further calculations we get :

\quad \longrightarrow \:20x = 18x + 14

<u>Step </u><u>3 </u><u>:</u> Subtracting 18 from both sides :

\quad \longrightarrow \:20x - 18x =  \cancel{18x }+ 14 -  \cancel{18}

On further calculations we get :

\quad \longrightarrow \:2x = 14

<u>Step </u><u>4</u><u> </u><u>:</u> Dividing with 2 on both sides :

\quad \longrightarrow \: \frac{ \cancel{ 2}x}{ \cancel{2}}  =   \cancel{\frac{14}{2} }

On further calculations we get :

\quad \longrightarrow \:  \blue{\boxed{ \frak{x = 7}}}

  • <u>Therefore</u><u>,</u><u> </u><u>solution</u><u> </u><u>of </u><u>this </u><u>equation</u><u> </u><u>is </u><u>7</u><u> </u><u>or </u><u>we </u><u>can </u><u>say </u><u>that </u><u>value </u><u>of </u><u>this </u><u>equation</u><u> </u><u>is </u><u>7</u><u> </u><u>.</u>

<u>Verifying</u><u> </u><u>:</u><u> </u><u>-</u>

We are verifying our answer by substituting value of x in given equation. So ,

  • 4 ( 5x - 2 ) = 2 ( 9x + 3 )

  • 4 [ 5 ( 7 ) - 2 ] = 2 [ 9 ( 7 ) + 3 ]

  • 4 ( 35 - 2 ) = 2 ( 63 + 3 )

  • 4 ( 33 ) = 2 ( 66 )

  • 132 = 132

  • L.H.S = R.H.S

  • Hence, Verified.

<u>Therefore</u><u>,</u><u> </u><u>our </u><u>value</u><u> for</u><u> x</u><u> is</u><u> </u><u>correct </u><u>.</u>

The wading pool shown is a trapezoidal prism with a total volume of 286 cubic feet. What is the missing dimension? First base: 8
harkovskaia [24]
To find the missing dimension you will use the formula for finding the volume of a prism and solve for the missing dimension.  In this case 2ft is how deep the pool is and you will solve for the width of the pool.

V = Bh, where B is the area of the base.  In this case, use the area of a trapezoid formula.

286 = 1/2h(8 +13)2
<u>286</u> = <u>21h</u>
21      21
h = 13.6

The width of the wading pool is approximately 13.6 feet.

Mr Davis is creating a spice mixture for a recipe.2/5 of the spice mixture was oregano 1/3 of the spice mixture was basil the re
attashe74 [19]

Answer: \frac{11}{15}

Step-by-step explanation:

You know that:

- 2/5 of the spice mixture was oregano.

- 1/3 of the spice mixture was basil.

Then, to find the fraction of the total amount of spice mixture that was oregano and basil, you must add both fractions, as following:

- Find the least common multiply of the denominators:

LCM=5*3=15

- Divide the LCM by each original denominator and multiply the result by each numerator.

- Make the addition.

Then, the result is:

\frac{(2*3)+(1*5)}{15}=\frac{6+5}{15}=\frac{11}{15}
