DNA or deoxyribonucleic acid is known to be the genetic material for almost all organisms. It is tightly packed within the nucleus of every cell and wraps around the unique proteins known as histone. These histones form the loops of DNA called nucleosomes.

Further Explanation:

The genetic information is known to be packaged in 23 sets of chromosomes. In these, histones which are the proteins that aid the molecule of DNA to be very tightly packed in added and also aids in maintaining the double-helical structure of the DNA.

The thread-like structure provided in the diagram is known as chromosome. Chromosomes are found in the nucleus and it is composed up of protein as well as single molecule of DNA. The bunch like structures present is known as nucleosomes that are considered to be the basic unit of the DNA packaging.

The histone units make the structural units of the nucleosome and these units and bounded in the tight helical fiber. Finally, is the structure of DNA, which is known to be the genetic material.

I assume this photo has the labels you are talking about.

DNA double helix consists of two strands that wind around each other with their nucleotides liked.-> it's the structure number 5
nucleosome- it's a segment of DNA wound in sequence around eight histones (proteins)- number 2
Histone- proteins with DNA around them, forming the nucleosome- number 4
Tight helical fiber- chromatin coiled very tightly- 3
Cromosome- chromatin condensed even tighter forming a X shape.- 1

A student used poster board to construct this model of DNA.Which statement describes this model of DNA?
pantera1 [17]

Answer:

The model is inaccurate because the base pairs are incorrect.

Explanation:

The model of DNA that the student made was:

G-G

A-A

T-T

C-C

G-G

A-A

T-T

C-C

The model is pairing the bases incorrectly since guanine (G) forms a base pair with cytosine (C) and adenine (A) with thymine (T). In other words, the bases do not pair with the same type.

The DNA strands, which have deoxyribose, phosphate groups, and different bases, are together thanks to hydrogen bonds between the pairs. The pair G-C has three hydrogen bonds, while the pair A-T has two hydrogen bonds.

DaniilM [7]

A high level of gene flow into a population increases genetic diversity in a population. A high level of gene flow out of a population decreases genetic diversity in a population. Genetic drift is the change in allele frequencies due to "sampling error" factors. Typically, genetic drift has the biggest impact on small populations.

Gene flow (or gene migration) is a mechanism of evolution (change the allele frequencies) which transfers genetic variation among populations due to migration. High level of gene flow decreases the genetic differentiation between the two populations.

Genetic drift is a mechanism of evolution that acts by chance (“sampling error”) often when a population is reduced in size by a natural disaster (bottleneck effect) or when a small group leaves the main population and forms a colony (founder effect).

Can someone help match these defenitions.
luda_lava [24]

The right matches are:

1. nuclear envelope is matched with b.

2.centriole is matched with a.

3.interphase is matched with j.

4.furrowing is matched with h.

5.anaphase is matched with g.

6.spindle apparatus is matched with f.

7.chromatin is matched with i.

8.haploid is matched with c.

9.meiosis is matched with e.

10.homologous chromosomes is matched with d.

Cell division consists of the formation of two or more cells from a single cell, which ensures their numerical growth. During mitosis of a cell, each daughter cell is identical to the mother cell. During meiosis, the mother cell gives two haploid daughter cells with n chromosomes, then each of these daughter cells give two n chromatid cells.

May be some word in this exercise are not very common like:

The mitotic spindle, allows chromatid migration during cell division.

The dividing groove is the invagination of the cell surface that allows the cell to divide in two.

Centriole is a specific cell element of animal cells, which form the centrosomes located at both poles of the cell.
