Researchers wanted to determine if having a DVD player in the bedroom is associated with obesity. The researchers administered a

questionnaire to 363 twelve-year-old adolescents. After analyzing the results, the researchers determined that the body mass index of the adolescents who had a DVD player in their bedroom was significantly higher than that of the adolescents who did not have a DVD player in their bedroom.Why is this an observational study? What type of observational study is this? Why is this an observational study?A. The researchers observed the behavior of the individuals in the study without trying to influence an explanatory variable of the study. B. The researchers tried to influence the outcome of the study. C. The researchers intentionally changed an explanatory variable of the study. D. The researchers administered a questionnaire to obtain their data without trying to influence an explanatory variable of the study.

Problem 2:
kifflom [539]

Answer:

The answers to the questions about problem 2 are:

  1. The fraction of the length after Priya stops two times is 3/4.
  2. The fraction of the length after Priya stops four times is 15/16.
  3. Priya will never reach the end of the hallway.

Step-by-step explanation:

The explanation about each answer is below:

1. In the first stop, Priya has walked half of the total length, and there would still be half the hallway, however, when she stops the second time, she has walked the half of the half, I mean:

\frac{1}{2}/2=\frac{1}{4}

If you add the two values you obtain the total distance traveled by Priya:

\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{4}= \frac{3}{4}

And the distance traveled in two stops is 3/4 of the total length of the hallway.

2. With four stops the system is the same, we know with two stops Priya travels 3/4 of the hallway, now with the third stop, she will travel half of the remaining distance:

\frac{1}{4}/2=\frac{1}{8}

And in the fourth stop she will travel half of the remaining, I mean:

\frac{1}{8}/2=\frac{1}{16}

Now, we add all the values of the distances obtained:

\frac{3}{4}+\frac{1}{8}+\frac{1}{16}= \frac{15}{16}

So, the distance traveled by Priya in the fourth stop is 15/16 of the total length of the hallway.

3. How we know, the numbers are infinite, in the same forms the distances, by this reason, how the problem says that Priya walks just half of the distance, she will never reach the end because despite she has very near of the end, she will continue walking just half and ever smaller distances.

Solve please I do not understand at all and please show work!
lina2011 [118]
So the recipe calls for 96 grams of sugar, and one cup is 128 grams of sugar.

She added a half of a cup, and as they said before one cup was 128 grams of sugar. So half of 128 is 64. So she added 64 grams of sugar. The recipe needs 96 grams so 64 grams is not enough sugar.

So 96 grams minus 64 equals 32 grams. So she still needs 32 grams of sugar.

So since the answers are all in cups, we must convert our answer from grams to cups.

So we have 32 grams of sugar left and to convert it we must put the 32 grams out of one cup. Once again one cup is 128 grams of sugar. So the amount of cups we need is 32/128 (fraction).

Also we need to simplify our fraction to completely answer the question. So we divide the numerator and denominator by 32.

So the final answer is 1/4. So the answer is D or the last answer out of the multiple choice.

Please help on this math problem
Arte-miy333 [17]

Answer:

1680 in^3

Step-by-step explanation:

SO you got the triangle

24*10=240

240/2=120

now we just need to find the area

There is a formula but I think this is easier

So theres a rectangle with a length of 14

So if you think of the triangle as the base, you just need 14 triangles stacked up to make up the volume

So 120*14=1680

So the volume is 1680
