Answer:

61.13 units squared

Step-by-step explanation:

This figure is composed of a semicircle and a triangle. Let's find these areas separately:

1) SEMICIRCLE:

The area of a semicircle is: A=\frac{\pi r^2}{2} , where r is the radius (which is the distance from the center to a point on the circle). In this case, the radius of the circle is 4. So, we have:

A=\frac{\pi *4^2}{2} =\frac{16\pi }{2} =8\pi ≈ 25.13 units squared

2) TRIANGLE:

The area of a triangle is: A=\frac{bh}{2} , where b is the base and h is the height. Here, the base is 8 (b = 8) and the height is 9 (h = 9). So, we have:

A=\frac{8*9}{2} =\frac{72}{2} =36 units squared

Finally, we add these two areas together:

25.13 + 36 = 61.13 units squared.

Hope this helps!

Answer:

61.12 units²

Step-by-step explanation:

(½ × pi × r²) + (½ × b × h)

½ [(3.14 × 4²) + (8 ×9)]

½(122.24)

61.12 units²

The sum of 3 consecutive odd numbers is 177. What is the value of the smallest number in the sequence
riadik2000 [5.3K]

Ok this is a very question that can solved very easily. So we know that there three numbers, and they are consecutive, this means that they are all one bigger than the number before so for example 1,2, and 3 or 20, 21, and 22. These numbers are called consecutive. Now let's just pretend that the answer to this question is the variable "x". Now x is the smallest number in all the three numbers.

Using our knowledge of consecutive numbers we can say that the next to numbers will be one more than the number before so:

(x+1) and (x+2)

So we have our three numbers: x , x+1 , and x+2. Now let's set these numbers equal to 177.

177 = x + x + 1 + x + 2 → Combine like terms.

177 = 3x + 3 → Subtract 3 from both sides.

174 = 3x → Divide both sides by 3

58 = x

So that means that our first and smallest number is going to be 58 our second number will be +1 so 59 and our third number will be +2 so 60.

So the three numbers will be 58, 59, and 60.

Hope this helped.

Do you want us to do all seven?   I don't think so.

17.   s for Sonia, m for Sam, n for Nigel

s = 13.2 + 1.4 m

n = -10 + 2.5 m

n = 12 + s

First and third,

n = 12 + (13.2 + 1.4 m)

Second and that one,

-10 + 2.5m = 25.2 + 1.4m

1.1m = 35.2

m = 35.2/1.1

m = 32

Answer: 32 kg

18.

f - # of $500 tickets, t - $300 tickets, w  - $200 tickets

t = 2f

w = -60 + t

500f + 300t + 200w = 48000

f = t/2

500(t/2) + 300t + 200(-60 + t) = 48000

750t = 60000

t = 80

w = -60 + t = 20

Answer: 20

19.

c + b = 171

c/9 = b/9 -5

c = b - 45

Adding,

2c + b = b + 126

c = 63

Answer: 63

Suppose that x is normally distributed with mean 110 and standard deviation 30.
scoray [572]
Standard the random variable X using the transformation

Z=\dfrac{X-\mu}\sigma

where \mu and \sigma are the mean and standard deviation of X, respectively.

\mathbb P(X\ge170)=\mathbb P\left(\dfrac{X-110}{30}\ge\dfrac{170-110}{30}\right)=\mathbb P(Z\ge2)

Now, you can recall that for any normal distribution, approximately 95% of its data falls within 2 standard deviations of the mean, so to either side, there is approximately 2.5% of data that falls below 2 standard deviations from the mean, and 2.5% that falls 2\sigma above \mu. In other words, \mathbb P(Z\ge2)\approx0.025.
