Answer:

Each person will get $2.66 back.

Step-by-step explanation:

First you multiply 5 by 10 because there are a total of 5 friends that will pay $10 each.

You now have $50 which is all of the money of the friends combined.

The bill was $36.70 So you will need to subtract the bill from the money that the friends put in ($50-36.70) Which leaves the friends with $13.30 in left over change.

You now need to disperse the left over change amoung the 5 friends.

$13.30 devided by 5 is $2.66

Each friend will get $2.66 in change back.

Let us calculate the median; the 6th observation is 20, so it is 20. We need the 6th observation so that out of the 11 observations we have 5 above the median and 5 below (or equal). We also have that then Q1 is the median of the lowest 5 observations, hence 19 (14,16,19,19,20, the 3rd observation is 19). Similarly, we get that the median for the upper half of the observations, Q3 namely, is 22 (21,21,22,22,23, the 3rd observation is 22). Thus, the interquartile range is 3=Q3-Q1. According to our calculations, all observations are wrong.

Hint:

x^{m}*x^{n}=x^{m+n}\\\frac{x^{m}}{x^{n}}=x^{m-n},m>n\\\frac{x^{m}}{x^{n}}=\frac{1}{x^{n-m}},n>m
