A genotype is controlled by the sex cells combining to form an organism. True or False
myrzilka [38]

True

A genotype is the combination of genes in its DNA of the organism that determines its traits

Explanation:

Gametes from parents contribute different alleles of genes to their offspring. This why gametes carry only one copy of genetic material of the organism. They later fuse to form a zygote with a full genetic copy and capable of developing into an full organism.

Depending on which kind of alleles the parents pass down to the offspring will determine the offspring's genotype. The genotype of the offspring will, on the other hand, affect its phenotype which is the outward characteristic. An example is the sickle cell trait. If both gametes from the parents contribute the recessive alleles of the gene, then the offspring will be homozygous recessive for sickle cell genotype and this will show in the phenotype pf the person who will have sickle cell shaped blood cells.

In a hypothetical population of plants, flower color is determined by a single gene with two alleles. In a population of 500 pla
blondinia [14]

Answer:

In the F1 generation

RR = 0%

Rr = 50% (or 0.5)

rr = 50% (or 0.5)

Explanation:

A pink flowering plant has the genotype Rr. It is heterozygous for the allele. The alleles for this gene appears to show incomplete dominance, as the heterozygous phenotype is a blend of the two homozygous genotypes.

A white flowering plant has the genotype rr. It is homozyogous for the white allele

A punnet square of the cross is shown.

The resulting punnet square shows that only Rr and rr genotypes are possible, at a ratio of 50:50 (or 1:1). Therefore, the genotype frequency of Rr is 50%, and rr is 50% in the F1 generation. This can also be written as 0.5. It is not possible to get a red plant, as the genotype RR can not come from this cross

What is a communicable disease chain? what steps can a nurse can take to break a link within the communicable disease chain?
Kaylis [27]
A diseases may be classified as either communicable or non-communicable. Communicable diseases are caused by pathogens who inhabit a host, man (I'm not saying man is the only host or man is necessarily the final host; there could be many host) who in turn passes the disease to another. Pathogens are viral, bacterial, parasitic and fungal. There are several stages before the pathogen metamorphoses into a full-blown disease. The stages in which several events happen builds up before the pathogen affects the final host is called a communicable disease chain. There are six stages ( Pathogen, reservoir, portal of ext, mode of transmission, portal of entry and susceptible host) in the communicable disease chain but the step a nurse shouod take is 1. Destroy the second link (Reservoir) by thoroughly sanitizing the environment. Obviously, this is where the Pathogens live. If the reservoir is taken care of; there's no way they could infect the host.
