A gender role, refers to how society assigns certain behavior and attitudes only acceptable to particular sex.
Gender roles are based on those roles that society consider to be only feminine and only masculine and the expectations of these roles varies from culture to culture. Some aspects though are common amongst culture such as the expectation of women to be home makers eventhough it may not have the same definition for every culture.
For example some culture expect women to be submissive , quite and listeners and men to more aggressive and leaders, all of these are gender roles.
