Traits are features that distinguish an organism. There are two types: acquired and inherited.
<span>Acquired Traits are </span><span>characteristics that are not inherited. </span>Lamarck’s hypothesis was that the inheritance of these acquired traits would increase an organism’s “fitness for survival.”
<span>Some of these characteristics that cannot be passed on genetically. It may be minor or temporary or permanent. Some which affect survival are:</span>
<span>1) </span>Knowledge, skills, ideas or memories,
<span>2) </span>Changes in body parts (calluses on fingers, large muscles, corrective eye surgery, organ transplant or removal)
<span>3) </span>The behavior of animals and plants (like adaptation, bending of plants)
<span>4) </span>Vaccinations
<span>5) </span><span>Amputations</span>
