x and y are natural numbers, and y≠1. It is known that (7x+1) is divisible by y and (8x+3) is also divisible by y. Find y.
mezya [45]

Given : x and y are natural numbers . As (7x+1) is divisible by y and (8x+3) is also divisible by y.

To find: y

Solution: Since  (7 x+1) is divisible by y and (8 x+3) is also divisible by y.

1.As x,y are natural numbers, So

→8 x+3>7 x+1

→8 x+3=7 x+1+k y where k is any natural number.-------(1)[reason: 4 is divisible by 2 and 6 is also divisible by 2, so 6=4+2k]

→8 x-7 x+3-1=k y

→k y= x+2

If k=1, then y=x+2.

So value of y is x+2.As y≠1, so for different values of x there are different values of y. so x=1,we get y=3, as this is linear equation in one variable.

→y is an odd natural number,=[3,5,7,9,.....]≠1

If x^2 + y^2 = 25, find the equation of the line tangent to the circle when x = -4
bekas [8.4K]

Answer:

In the point (-4,3) tangent is : y=4/3x+25/3 i.e, y=1.33x+8.33

In the point (-4,-3) tangent is: y=-4/3x-25/3 i.e, y=-1.33x-8.33

Step-by-step explanation:

The center of the circle is in (0,0), because x^2+y^2=(x-0)^2+(y-0)^2=25. And the radius is 5, because 5^2=25.

We have first center: (x1,y1)=(0,0)

The point of the tangent is in x=-4, so x^2+y^2=25 is 16+y^2=25,i.e y=3 and y=-3. Like you can see we have 2 tangents to the circle when x=-4. the point (-4,3) and (-4,-3).

We will do for the first point:

The point of tangent is (x2,y2)=(-4,3)

The gradient  of the radius

mr=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)=(3-0)/(-4-0)=-3/4

The gradient of the tangent mt is:

mr*mt=-1 (they are ortogon)

mt=-1/mr=-1/(-3/4)=4/3

the equation of the line trought one point is:

y-y2=k(x-x2), where k is mt,i.e. k=4/3

y-3=4/3(x-(-4))

y=4/3x+16/3+3

y=4/3x+25/3

y=1.33x+8.33

Now for the 2nd point (-4,-3),

mr=-3/-4=3/4

mt=-4/3

y+3=-4/3(x-(-4))

y=-4/3x-16/3-3

y=-4/3x-25/3

y=-1.33x-8.33

how to find volume of a pool?? what's the formula... I'm in 7th grade and I need help finding the volume of a pool I just need a
gogolik [260]
Let's assume the pool is a rectangular block

If you know the length width and depth (or height) of the pool, then you can find the volume.

For example
length = 30 feet
width = 10 feet
depth = 8 feet
volume = length*width*depth = 30*10*8 = 300*8 = 2400 cubic feet
This is assuming that the depth stays the same throughout the pool. Though some pools (or most?) have the depth gradually get deeper as you move toward the deep-end. To keep things simple however, the assumption is that the bottom is completely flat and it doesn't gradually get deeper.
