Answer:

A. Mary Beth paid $17.5 for her backpack.

B. Her brother paid 12.95 for his backpack

C. They both saved $13.05

Step-by-step explanation:

A. The sale is 30% off so from 100% we have to remove 30%,

Therefore 100% - 30% = 70% so we have to do 70/100 × 25$

= 70 × 25 = 1750 So it is 1750/100 = 17.5.

B. 100% - 30% = 70% so 70/100 × 18.50$

= 70 × 18.50 = 1295 so it is 1295/100 = 12.95.

C. The Original Cost Of their backpacks together cost 25 + 18.50 = 43.50

With The Discount it Costs 17.5 + 12.95 = 30.45

∴ So They Both Saved 43.50 - 30.45 = 13.05
