Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

You aren't able to figure out an exact number of either footballs or basketballs because you don't have enough information for that, but you do have enough to get an expression for one in terms of the other, which I imagine is the point here.  We know that for every 1 basketball sold, we sold 2.5 footballs, so the algebraic expression for that is

1 bball = 2.5 fballs

This gives us the number of bballs in terms of fballs but we want the number of fballs in terms of bballs, so solve that expression for fballs:

1 fball = 1/2.5 bballs

or, in words, for every single football sold, 2/5 of a basketball was sold.  Sounds silly, but I think your teacher is trying to get you to figure out how to express one thing in terms of another so you can use the expressions in solving story problems.

What is the next odd number after 160 to which 9 would divide without a reminder
ale4655 [162]
Ok so one way is to list the multiplues of 9 close to thtat
first use a caltulator to find out how much more we need
160/9=17.777777
that is 17.7777 nine's
so round up
18
18 is even
odd times even=even
18 must be odd
18+1=19
9 times 19=171
the answer is 171

explain the place value relationship when the same two digits are next to each other in a multidigit number
alisha [4.7K]
For example, the value of digit 3 in 5833

5833 = 5000 + 800 + 30 + 3

The digits 3 in 5833 has value of 30 and 3
One value is ten times the other

Another example, the value of digit 6 in 586645

586645 = 500000 + 80000 + 6000 + 600 + 40 + 5

The digits 6 in 586645 is 6000 and 600
One digit is 10 times the other

We can make a conclusion that the place value relationship when the same two digits are next to each other is one digit will always be 10 times the other digit.

Consider the graph of the cosine function shown below.
nata0808 [166]

Answer:

a. Amplitude: 4

Period: 1

b. The maximum values occur at \theta=0,1,2

The minimum values occur at \theta=\frac{1}{2},\frac{3}{2}

The zeros occur at \theta=\frac{1}{4},\frac{3}{4},\frac{5}{4},\frac{7}{4}

Step-by-step explanation:

We can see from the graph that;

-4\le f(x) \le 4.

This implies that;

|A|=4.

The amplitude is 4.

The function also completed one full cycle on the interval [0,1]

The period is

T=|1-0|=1

The maximum values occur at \theta=0,1,2

The minimum values occur at \theta=\frac{1}{2},\frac{3}{2}

The zeros occur at \theta=\frac{1}{4},\frac{3}{4},\frac{5}{4},\frac{7}{4}

This is where the graph intersected the x-axis.
