What is the authors main claim in the text ''someone might be watching'' by shelby ostergaard
blsea [12.9K]

Answer:

Dystopian fiction exaggerates existing problems in our reality to show readers what could happen if society continues down a certain path like taking its "quest for perfection too far".

Explanation:

In Shelby Ostergaard's informational text "Someone Might Be Watching- An Introduction to Dystopian Fiction", the author claims how dystopian worlds are not a faraway idea of humanity. Considering the wants and constant pressure of humanity to achieve further advancement and development might as well bring upon the fictional world of a dystopia that has been the work of only writers.

This possibility of attaining a dystopian world is not a far fetched idea. Though just a work of fiction, these presentations of a world where there is loss of liberty, individuality and misinformation are a much nearer reality of man's current situation. Aside from the present issues of scientific progress and even the dark side of any research on the scientific and health, man seems to want more better things, which is reasonable. Man's wants are impossible to be fulfilled, for they want something or the other even after gaining what they want in the first place. Likewise, the unwarranted wants of man for perfection may lead to the fictionalized worlds of dystopian society which we have, till now, seen only in the books. The writer ends the text with a warning about what or how <em>"the world might look like if we take our quest for perfection too far"</em>, just as a fun-house mirror shows the 'unnoticed' flaws of a person.

Misha Larkins [42]

Answer:

A. alliteration

Explanation:

Alliteration

Alliteration is the repetition of the same consonant sound, such as many Mondays, or dazzling dream. This type of sound repetition can occur at the beginning, middle, or end of the word.

The traditional folk song “Shenandoah” is a good example of a lyric poem. It does not tell a story, but it does express the writer’s feelings.

Shenandoah

Shenandoah, I long to hear you,

Away, you rolling river,

Oh, Shenandoah, I long to hear you,

Away, I’m bound away,

‘Cross the wide Missouri.

Shenandoah, I love your daughter,

Away, you rolling river,

I’ll take her ‘cross the rolling water,

Away, I’m bound away,

‘Cross the wide Missouri.

Shenandoah, I long to hear you,

Away, you rolling river,

Oh, Shenandoah, I long to hear you,

Away, I’m bound away,

‘Cross the wide Missouri.

Refrain

A refrain is a line or group of lines repeated throughout a poem. A refrain can be

a line or two of verse that comes at the end of a stanza; or

a stanza that is repeated regularly throughout the poem.

In musical terms, the repeated lines sung after a stanza are called a chorus.

Rhythm

To put it into musical terms, rhythm is the beat of poetry. Because there is no drum or bass to define the beat of a poem, it is done through the choice and arrangement of words.

As you know, certain words or syllables of words are stressed when you speak. The pattern of stressed words and syllables found in a lyric poem helps build its rhythm. The rhythm pattern in poetry is called meter.

Before you go on, try this little exercise. Think of your favorite song again. Write the first verse of lyrics down on paper. Now, here is the hard part. Try to forget the music that the lyrics are set to and speak the words as a poem.

As you do so, underline the syllables that are stressed. This will show you the rhythm within the words, not just in the sound of the music. When you are done, you will have analyzed a piece of poetry for rhythm.

Rhyme

As you know, words that rhyme end with a similar sound. Rhyme and time, beat and heat, and friends and trends are all examples of rhyming words.

“Mary Had a Little Lamb” has only two rhyming words. Both come at the end of a line of verse.

As in rap lyrics, the use of rhyming in lyric poetry can be very elaborate. As you will see in “The Raven,” rhyming words can come at the end of lines of verse (end rhyme), or they can be located within one or more lines of verse (internal rhyme).

Agata [3.3K]

Answer:

what if the sun exploded ? The sun is a star, and when a star explodes it’s called a supernova. These types of explosions are very bright, and very powerful. They release lots of dust into space, which is used to make more stars and planets. Our solar system was made using stuff from these explosions. Even humans are made of star stuff!

If the sun suddenly exploded like this, the whole solar system would be destroyed. You don’t have to worry though – only stars ten times the size of our sun, or bigger, can explode like this. Our sun will end its life in a different way.

A supernova is like bursting a balloon. But when our sun dies, it will happen slowly, like when you gradually let the air out of a balloon.

The death of the sun  When the sun starts to die, it will get bigger and slightly colder, turning into what astronomers call a “red giant”. It will get so big, that it will eat Mercury, Venus and even Earth.

The light from the sun is what keeps our planet warm. Without it, the planets in the solar system will get very cold. This would make it harder for life to stay alive in the solar system.
