The general formula for sine wave is given as:

y = A sin (w x) + B

where,

y = height of the ladybug

A = is the amplitude of the wave or the highest peak

w = the angular frequency = 2 π f

x = seconds after landing

B = y intercept of the function

A. The A in the function refers to how high and how low the wheels turn. So it has a maximum value of 7 in the top and also 7 in the bottom. The negative sign simply means that the wheel starts going down first rather than going up (classic sine is the reverse). Therefore the diameter of the wheel is:

diameter = maximum top + maximum bottom

diameter = 7 + 7 = 14 cm

B. From the equation,

w = 2 π f = 0.4 π

Calculating for frequency f,

f = 0.2 rev / s

The period p it takes to make one revolution is the reciprocal of f:

p = 1 / 0.2

p = 5 seconds

C. From B, it takes 5 seconds to complete 1 revolution and in 1 revolution there is 360°. Therefore:

degrees in 1 seconds = 360° / 5 seconds = 72° / 1 second

Hence, the ladybug turns 72° in 1 second.

D. The value of B gives the initial height of the ladybug. Therefore the minimum and maximum heights is:

h = B ± diameter

h = 11 ± 7

h = 4, 18

Hence the min height is 4 cm and max height is 18 cm above the ground.

E. Simply plug in x = 3

y = -7 sin(0.4π*3) + 11

y = -0.46 + 11

y = 10.54 cm above the ground

Find the slope, Y-intercept, and equation (make sure there is no decimals if there is a decimal make it into a fraction)!
adelina 88 [10]

Answer:

Slope is 5/3

y-intercept = -3

y = 5/3x - 3

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the slope, take to coordinates and use the equation below

m = \frac{\text{rise}}{\text{run}} = \frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1}

7-2 = 5

6-3= 3

Now you have your slope which is 5/3

Then take the slope and input it into point slope form to get your y-intercept.

y-y₁=m(x-x₁)

y-2 = 5/3(x-3)

y-2=5/3x-5

add two to both sides to get Y by itself

y = 5/3x - 3

now you have your y-intercept, which is -3

Then check your answer by inputing two different coordinates for X and Y

7 = 5/3(6)-3

7=7

12= 5/3(9)-3

12=12

romanna [79]
R=rita's age
m=mother's age
g=grandmother's age

mother is 4 times as old as rita
m=4r

grandmother is 2 times as old as mother
g=2m

sum is 104

r+m+g=104
subsitute 4r for m and 2m for g
r+4r+2m=104
subsitute 4r for m
r+4r+2(4r)=104
r+4r+8r=104
13r=104
divide both sides by 13
r=8
4r=m=32
8r=2m=g=64

rita is 8
mother is 32
grandmother is 64

Answer:

the answer is 112

Step-by-step explanation:

7² = 49.

4² = 16.

49+3(16+3+2) = 49+3(21) = 49+63 = 112

Kelly drove north for 9 miles and then east for 12 miles at an average rate of 42 miles per hour to arrive at the town of Prime.
mr_godi [17]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

This is one of the more interesting motion problems I've seen.  I like it!  If Kelly is driving north (straight up) for 9 miles, then turns east (right) and drives for 12 miles, what we have there are 2 sides of a right triangle.  The hypotenuse is created by Brenda's trip, which originated from the same starting point as Kelly and went straight to the destination, no turns.  We need the distance formula to solve this problem, so that means we need to find the distance that Brenda drove.  Using Pythagorean's Theorem:

9^2+12^2=c^2 and

81+144=c^2 and

225=c^2 so

c = 15.

Brenda drove 15 miles.  Now we can fill in a table with the info:

                d        =        r        x        t

Kelly     12+9               42                t

Brenda    15                45                t

Because they both left at the same time, t represents that same time, whatever that time is.  That's our unknown.

If d = rt, then for Kelly:

21 = 42t

For Brenda

15 = 45t

Solve Kelly's equation for t to get

t = 1/2 hr or 30 minutes

Solve Brenda's equations for t to get

t = 1/3 hr or 20 minutes

That means that Brenda arrived at the destination 10 minutes sooner than Kelly.
