There were political tensions between "Arab countries" and "Israel".  On one hand, Jewish people claimed their ancestral homeland and on the other hand Arabs claimed the Muslim lands.  

This led to civil war between the two countries . In the “Arab-Israeli” War, Israel defeated its enemies. It was the first of wars among several others, fought between the neighbouring countries of Israel with Israel. After repeated attempts of reconciliation, United Nations intervened to resolve the issue.

United Nations passed a resolution to divide "Palestine" between Arabs and Jews, forming the "Jewish state of Israel".
