Pick the correct products for the following reaction acid + metal reaction: 2 HNO3 + Co -->
MrMuchimi

Answer:

2. Co(NO3)2 + H2

Explanation:

Hello,

In this case, we are evidencing a simple displacement reaction wherein the cobalt is able displace the hydrogen to produce cobalt (II) nitrate and gaseous hydrogen as a result of cobalt's higher activity:

2 HNO_3 + Co\rightarrow Co(NO_3)_2+H_2

Therefore, answer is 2. Co(NO3)2 + H2.

Best regards.

Methanol has a normal boiling point of 64.6C and a heat of vaporization of 35.2 kJ/mol. What is the vapor pressure (in Torr) of
DENIUS [597]

Answer:

vapor pressure of methanol at 12.0C = 75.09 torr

Explanation:

Using Clausius Clapeyron equation

, we have that

ln (P2/P1)= (ΔHvap /R) (1/T1 - 1/T2)

Given

At Normal boiling point,

Temperature T1= 64.6°C = 64.6 + 273 = 337.6 K, Pressure,P1 = 1 atm

Heat of vaporization  = 35.2 kJ/mol

Changing to  J/mol

=35.2 x 1000= 35200 J/mol

Temperature , T2 = 12.0oC = 12 + 273 = 285 K

Using gas constant, R = 8.314 J/mol.K

ln (P2/P1)= -(ΔHvap /R) (1/T1 - 1/T2)

ln (P2/ 1 atm) = (35200 J/mol/ (8.314 J/mol.K) X( 1/337.6 - 1/285)

ln (P2/ 1 atm) =4,233.822 X (0.00296-0.003508)

ln (P2/ 1 atm)  = 4,233.822468  x-0.0005466866

ln (P2/ 1 atm)=  -2.31457

P2 = e^⁻2.31457 x 1 atm

P2=0.098808atm

= 0.098808atm  x760 = 75.09 torr

If 41grams of water at 24°C absorbs 2208 J of heat energy, what will be the final temperature of the water?
aleksklad [387]
The problem can solved using the heat equation which is expressed as:

H = mCΔT

 where H is the energy absorbed or released, m is the mass of the substance, C is the specific heat capacity, and ΔT is the change in temperature.

2208 J = 41 g x 4.18 J/g·°C x ( T - 24 °C)
T = 36.88 °C

At a particular temperature, K = 4.1 ✕ 10−6 for the following reaction. 2 CO2(g) 2 CO(g) + O2(g) If 2.3 moles of CO2 is initiall
mestny [16]

Answer:

concentration of [O_2] = 0.0124 = 12.4 ×10⁻³ M

concentration of [CO] = 0.0248 = 2.48 ×10⁻² M

concentration of [CO_2] = 0.4442 M

Explanation:

Equation for the reaction:

2CO_2_{(g)                ⇄          2CO_{(g)       +       O_2_{(g)

Concentration of   CO_2_{(g) = \frac{2.3}{4.9}  = 0.469

For our ICE Table; we have:

                       2CO_2_{(g)                ⇄          2CO_{(g)       +       O_2_{(g)

Initial                 0.469                              0                           0

Change              - 2x                                +2x                      +x

Equilibrium       (0.469-2x)                       2x                         x

K = \frac{[CO]^2[O]}{[CO_2]^2}

K = \frac{[2x]^2[x]}{[0.469-2x]^2}

4.1*10^{-6}=\frac{2x^3}{(0.469-2x)^2}

Since the value pf K is very small, only little small of  reactant goes into product; so (0.469-2x)² = (0.469)²

4.1*10^{-6} = \frac{2x^3}{(0.938)}

2x^3 =3.8458*10^{-6

x^3 =\frac{3.8458*10^{-6}}{2}

x^3=1.9229*10^{-6

x=\sqrt[3]{1.9929*10^{-6}}

x = 0.0124

∴ at equilibrium; concentration of  [O_2] = 0.0124 = 12.4 ×10⁻³ M

concentration of [CO] = 2x  = 2 ( 0.0124)

= 0.0248

= 2.48 ×10⁻² M

concentration of [CO_2] = 0.469-2x

= 0.469-2(0.0124)

= 0.469 - 0.0248

= 0.4442 M
