Answer:

43 monosaccharides were joined to form the complex carbohydrate

Explanation:

During the condensation reaction or dehydration reaction to form complex carbohydrate from monosaccharides, two monosaccharides are joined by an -O- bridge between the -OH group of first carbon of one monosaccharide and the -OH group of either 4th or 6th carbon of the next molecule, forming 1,4 or 1,6 glycosidic bond respectively. All the monosaccharide molecules are joined to 2 glycosidic bonds except for the first and the last. Hence, the number of water molecules release to form a carbohydrate chain will be one less than the total number of monosaccharides it contains.

Therefore, for 42 water molecules to be released, 43 (42 + 1) monosaccharides would have to be joined by the glycosidic bond.

Answer:

43 monosaccharides will be joined together to make the complex carbohydrate.

Explanation:

The complex carbohydrates are synthesized by the joining of monosaccharide residues by glycosidic linkages. One glycosidic linkage joins two monosaccharide residues by the elimination of one molecule of water.

In other words it can be said that elimination of one water molecule joins two monosaccharides.By the same way elimination of 42 molecules of water will result in the joining of 43 monosaccaride residues.
