Answer : The number of oxygen atoms are, 4.8\times 10^{22}

Explanation : Given,

Mass of Na_2Cr_2O_7 = 3 g

Molar mass of Na_2Cr_2O_7 = 261.97 g/mole

First we have to calculate the moles of N_2O_3

\text{Moles of }Na_2Cr_2O_7=\frac{\text{Mass of }Na_2Cr_2O_7}{\text{Molar mass of }Na_2Cr_2O_7}=\frac{3g}{261.97g/mole}=0.0114mole

As we know that Na_2Cr_2O_7 contains 2 number of sodium atoms, 2 number of chromium atoms and 7 number of oxygen atoms.

Now we have to calculate the number of atoms of oxygen.

As, 1 mole of Na_2Cr_2O_7 contains 7\times 6.022\times 10^{23} number of oxygen atoms

As, 0.0114 mole of Na_2Cr_2O_7 contains 0.0114\times 7\times 6.022\times 10^{23}=4.8\times 10^{22} number of oxygen atoms

Therefore, the number of oxygen atoms are, 4.8\times 10^{22}

The solution is as follows: Convert 3.00 g Na2Cr2O7 into mol. To do this, we must know the molar mass. Molar mass of Na2Cr2O7 is 261.97 g/mol Mol Na2Cr2O7 = (3.00 g Na2Cr2O7)( mol / 261.97 g) = 0.01145 mol In 1 mol of Na2Cr2O7 there are 7 mol of O (oxygen). Therefore: Mol O = 0.01145 mol Na2Cr2O7 (7 mol O/ 1 mol Na2Cr2O7) = 0.08016 mol O In 1 mol of any substance, there are 6.02 x 10^23 atoms Atoms of O = 0.08016 mol O ( 6.02 x 10^23 atoms / mol O) = 4.8257 x 10^22 atoms

A gas occupies 49 liters at a pressure of 367 mm Hg. What is the volume when the pressure is increased to 784 mm Hg?
vodka [1.7K]

Answer:

22.94 L.

Explanation:

We can use the general law of ideal gas: PV = nRT.

where, P is the pressure of the gas in atm.

V is the volume of the gas in L.

n is the no. of moles of the gas in mol.

R is the general gas constant,

T is the temperature of the gas in K.

If n and T are constant, and have two different values of V and P:

P₁V₁ = P₂V₂

P₁ = 367.0 mm Hg, V₁ = 49.0 L.

P₂ = 784.0 mm Hg, V₂ = ??? L.

∴ V₂ = P₁V₁/P₂ = (367.0 mm Hg)(49.0 L)/(784.0 mm Hg) = 22.94 L.

Classify these substances. More than one answer may apply in each case.
enyata [817]

Answer: H_2 :  Pure substance, Element

O_2 : Pure substance , Element

H_2O:  Pure substance, Compound

Explanation:

Element is a pure substance which is composed of atoms of similar elements.It can not be decomposed into simpler constituents using chemical reactions.Example: H-2 and O_2

Compound is a pure substance which is made from atoms of different elements combined together in a fixed ratio by mass.It can be decomposed into simpler constituents using chemical reactions. Example: H_2O

Heterogeneous Mixture : Mixture that has its different components mixed unevenly within the substance . Example: Air

Homogeneous Mixture : Mixture that has its different components mixed evenly within the substance. Example: sugar dissolved in water

Which of the following correctly describes what happens to the kinetic energy of water when it changes from steam to a liquid?
IgorLugansk [536]

Answer:

kinetic energy decreases

Explanation:

kinetic energy usually increases when hot and decreases when cold. The steam is turning into a liquid because it is cooling down, causing the molecules to move less and slow down.

Which of these, if dissolved in 1.0 l of pure water, would produce a buffer solution? which of these, if dissolved in 1.0 l of p
stiks02 [169]

Answer:

  1. (0.1 mol NaH₂PO₄ + 0.1 mol Na₂HPO₄)

Explanation:

A buffer solution is an aqueous solution consisting of a mixture of a weak acid and its conjugate base, or weak base and its conjugate acid.

Also, a buffer solution is a solution which resists changes in pH when acid or alkali is added to it.

  1. (0.1 mol NaH₂PO₄ + 0.1 mol Na₂HPO₄) when dissolved in 1 L H₂O will produce a buffer because NaH₂PO₄ is considered as weak acid while Na₂HPO₄ is its conjugate base. 2.
  2. (0.1 mol H₃O⁺ + 0.1 mol Cl⁻) is not a mixture of a weak acid and its conjugate base, or weak base and its conjugate acid.
  3. (0.1 mol HCl + 0.1 mol NaoH) HCL is a strong acid and NaOH is a strong base so it will not form a buffer when dissolved in water.
  4. (0.1 mol H₃O⁺ + 0.1 OH⁻) is not a mixture of a weak acid and its conjugate base, or weak base and its conjugate acid
  5. (0.1 mol NaCl+ 0.1 mol KCl) NaCL and KCL are salts so it will not form a buffer when dissolved in water.

So the right choice is

  1. (0.1 mol NaH₂PO₄ + 0.1 mol Na₂HPO₄)
