For thermal equilibrium at temperature Tan appropriate measure of energy is kT where k is Boltzmann's constant. Convert the foll
Schach [20]

Answer:

1 cm⁻¹ =1.44K  1 ev = 1.16 10⁴ K

Explanation:

The relationship between temperature and thermal energy is

     E = K T

The relationship of the speed of light

    c =λ f = f / ν          1/λ= ν

The Planck equation is

          E = h f

Let's start the transformations

     c = f λ = f / ν

     f = c ν

     E = h f

     E = h c ν

     E = KT

     h c ν = K T

     T = h c ν  / K =( h c / K) ν

Let's replace the constants

     h = 6.63 10⁻³⁴ J s

     c = 3 10⁸ m / s

     K = 1.38  10⁻²³ J / K

     v = 1 cm-1 (100 cm / 1 m) = 10² m-1

     T = (6.63 10⁻³⁴ 3. 10⁸ / 1.38 10⁻²³) 1 10²

     A = h c / K = 1,441 10⁻²

     T =  1.44K

     ν = 103 cm⁻¹ = 103 10² m

     T = (6.63 10⁻³⁴ 3. 10⁸ / 1.38 10⁻²³) 103 10²

     T = 148K

1 Rydberg = 1.097 10 7 m

As we saw at the beginning the λ=1 / v

     T = (h c / K) 1 /λ

     T = 1,441 10⁻²  1 / 1,097 10⁷

     T = 1.3 10⁻⁹ K

    E = 1Ev (1.6 10⁻¹⁹ J /1 eV) = 1.6 10⁻¹⁹ J

    E = KT

    T = E/K

    T = 1.6 10⁻¹⁹ /1.38 10⁻²³

    T = 1.16 10⁴ K

Imagine two fixed charges on the x axis. Charge one is +q and is located to the left of charge two which is equal to -4q. Where
givi [52]

Answer: B)To the left of the charges.

Explanation: between the charges the electric field will not cancel but will be added since electric field lines from both charges point in the same direction. To the right of the charge the -4q will take over as it’s strength overcomes the strength of the +q charge. At this point the magnitude of +q will never reach a magnitude strong enough to cancel the -4q. To the left, it is further away from -4q and is closer to +q and electric field lines point in different direction

At 4.00 l, an expandable vessel contains 0.864 mol of oxygen gas. how many liters of oxygen gas must be added at constant temper
svet-max [94.6K]

Givens
=====
V = 4.00 L
T = 273oK We're assuming the temperature does not change, just the pressure.
n = 0.864 moles
R = 8.314 joules / mole  * oK
P = ?????

Formula
======
PV = n*R*T
P = n*R*T/V
P = 0.864 * 8.314 * 273 / 4
P = 490 kpa

You have to add 1.6 – 0.864 = 0.736 moles of gas.

We have to assume that the temperature and pressure remain the same when we add the 0.736 moles of gas. We are now looking for the volume.

PV = n*R*T

V = 0.736 * 8.314 * 273 / 490

V = 3.41 L Remember this is at about 4 atmospheres so we have to convert to Standard Pressure.

Total Volume = 3.41 + 4.00 = 4.41

V1 * P1 = V2 * P2

P1 = 490 kPa

P2 = 101 kPa

V1 = 7.41 L

V2 = ????

  7.41* 490 = V2 * 101 V2 = 7.41 * 490 / 101 V2 = 35.94 L

You had 4 L now you need 31.94 more.
