Which of the following statements explains how N-formylmethionine (fMet) is only associated with the 5' AUG initiation codon and
Scilla [17]

Answer:

 • Only fMet-tRNA(fMet) can bind first to the P site in the ribosome. ( A )
 • There are more than one tRNA with the 5' CAU 3' anticodon. ( B )
 • The N-formyl group attached to methionine prevents fMet from entering interior positions in a polypeptide. ( D )

Explanation:

The statements that explains how N--formyl methionine (fMet) is only associated with the 5' AUG initiation codon and not with internal AUG codons, given that methionine in both cases in encoded by an AUG in the mRNA are :

Only fMet-tRNA(fMet) can bind first to the P site in the ribosome. ( A )

What are barrier islands? What protects the barrier islands?
dem82 [27]

Answer:

Barrier islands form in three ways. They can form from spits, from drowned dune ridges or from sand bars. Longshore drift is the movement of sand parallel to the shore caused by the angle of the waves breaking on the beach. When a storm such as a hurricane digs an inlet through the spit a barrier island is formed. Barrier islands are a specific type of island that lie parallel to the coastline of a larger mainland. They are separated from shore by a bay, lagoon or sound and because of where they are situated, they protect the coast from being directly impacted by storm waves or winds.

zloy xaker [14]

Answer;

Climatic limitations of the area

Explanation;

 • Climatic climax is a stage in which the plant species live in perfect balance with the current environmental conditions. Although climate is the major influence on vegetation at a global scale, on a local scale other factors such as drainage, geology and relief affect plant growth.
 • In the process of ecological succession, one community replaces another until a climax community is established. The type of climatic vegetation that grows in a certain geographical area is most directly influenced by a climatic limitations of an area.
 • A climax community is able to exist in a certain geographic region for a long period of time because it remains in equilibrium with the environment.
 • Ecosystems tend to change with time until a stable system is formed. All stable ecosystems are characterized by the presence of a specific climax vegetation influenced by the climate of the area.
