My opinion comes down to one aspect, how does the prisoner explain/represent their current state to their own children. As an example, some people would use their state to show and represent what would happen if their children did something aginst the law like them. Unlike them, some prisoners may decide to stay as they are without talking to their children which could change the view of the consequences of doing something illegal for a child.
