The canal has a water lock system that acts like a massive elevator. When ships enter the locks, they're raised by water from the lake. Each lock raises the ships until they're 85 feet above sea level. They then travel across Gatun Lake.

Which of the following would be an example of a latent function of attending a university? a. Meeting individuals to date b. Gai
Sphinxa [80]

Answer:

The correct option is a) meeting individuals to date

Explanation:

In the field of sociology, a latent function can be described as an event which are not intended or unintended results. On the contrary, manifest functions are events which are obvious.

Meeting individuals for dating is not the main reason why any person joins a university. Hence, it can be termed as a latent function.

All the other options mentioned except option a, depict the main reasons why a person joins a university. Hence, these options are manifest functions.
