Nucleotides can be radiolabeled before they are incorporated into newly forming DNA and can be assayed to track their incorporat

ion. In a pulse–chase experiment, a student–faculty research team introduced labeled thymine (T) nucleotides into a culture of dividing human cells. After a short time, they added large amounts of unlabeled T nucleotides. In which cell cycle phase would the labeled T nucleotides become incorporated into the DNA?

Answer:

The S phase

Explanation:

The cell cycle is divided into two major phases:

 • The interphase
 • The m Phase

The interphase is further sub-divided into 4 phases:

 • The G0 phase: a dormant phase
 • The G1 phase: cell growth and development phase
 • The S phase: DNA synthesis/replication and centrosome duplication phase
 • The G2 phase: protein synthesis phase

The labeled T nucleotides will become incorporated into the cell's DNA during the DNA synthesis/replication phase of the cell cycle. At this phases, the double helix DNA unzips and each strand serves as a template for the synthesis of new strands. Replication fork forms and nucleotides are added to the growing chain of newly synthesized strands.

The correct answer is S phase.

Why can you catch a cold or flu more than once
Rufina [12.5K]

The flu and the cold are diseases that usually present in mild symptoms, but to be able to say why we can catch them more than once, we need to know that.....

Flu

Influenza, is a viral infection of the respiratory system. It is caused by the Influenza virus, which can be type A or B. It is mainly characterized by a picture of symptoms that leaves the person feeling very down and tired, causing a lot of discomfort.

Cold

Cold is and how it differs from the flu. To begin with, it is worth noting that it is also a viral respiratory infection. The difference between a cold and the flu is that it can be caused by other types of viruses, such as the more frequent Rhinovirus and Parainfluenza.

Can I have the flu or a cold more than once?

The good news is: no, you can't. The bad news is, there are a lot of viruses and germs flying around this time of year, and instead of catching the same one, you have a high chance of catching another.

The body's immune system recognizes and fights off germs, such as viruses that have invaded your blood, the viruses that cause the flu can change each year, so even if you've had the flu recently, it's recommended that you get a vaccine that matches the new viruses that may be circulating each year. Because the flu is caused by several viruses, the immunity you naturally develop after infection will only protect you against that type, so you can catch it from another one as well.

With this information, we can conclude that, we can have flu and cold more than once, because we will be in contact with many viruses that cause the flu and the cold.

A certain DNA sequence is 3 bases long. How many possible DNA combinations can exist for the 3-base long DNA sequence?
lord [1]
This was a hard one but I did some research and I found this

Our genome has 3 billion base pairs so a naive calculation shows 3x10^36 different combinations. But that's a meaningless number. A lot of those variants would be silent mutations, i.e. changes in introns, repeated sequences, 3rd position codons, etc etc that would have no effect on the phenotype.

Hope this help
