Does the Diesel engine have sparkling plugs? If yes, for what reason?

Engineering

Answer:

Regular diesel motors don't have spark plugs, but in some engines, they have spark plugs to help the engine to preheat and help combustion.

Explanation:

Regular gasoline engines have spark plugs to explode the mixture of gasoline+air. In a diesel engine, the spark is not required because the mixture of air+diesel explodes itself due to the high pressure inside the cylinder.

Water flows through a horizontal 60 mm diameter galvanized iron pipe at a rate of 0.02 m3/s. If the pressure drop is 135 kPa per
maksim [4K]

Answer:

pipe is old one with increased roughness

Explanation:

discharge is given as

V =\frac{Q}{A} = \frac{ 0.02}{\pi \4 \times (60\times 10^{-3})^2}

V = 7.07  m/s

from bernou;ii's theorem we have

\frac{p_1}{\gamma}  +\frac{V_1^2}{2g} + z_1 = \frac{p_2}{\gamma}  +\frac{V_2^2}{2g} + z_2 + h_l

as we know pipe is horizontal and with constant velocity so we have

\frac{P_1}{\gamma } + \frac{P_2 {\gamma } + \frac{flv^2}{2gD}

P_1 -P_2 = \frac{flv^2}{2gD} \times \gamma

135 \times 10^3 = \frac{f \times 10\times 7.07^2}{2\times 9.81 \times 60 \times 10^{-5}} \times 1000 \times 9.81

solving for friction factor f

f = 0.0324

fro galvanized iron pipe we have \epsilon = 0.15 mm

\frac{\epsilon}{d} = \frac{0.15}{60} = 0.0025

reynold number is

Re =\frac{Vd}{\nu} = \frac{7.07 \times 60\times 10^{-3}}{1.12\times 10^{-6}}

Re = 378750

from moody chart

For Re = 378750 and \frac{\epsilon}{d} = 0.0025

f_{new} = 0.025

therefore new friction factor is less than old friction factoer hence pipe is not new one

now for Re = 378750 and f = 0.0324

from moody chart

we have \frac{\epsilon}{d} =0.006

\epsilon = 0.006 \times 60

\epsilon = 0.36 mm

thus pipe is old one with increased roughness

A large class with 1,000 students took a quiz consisting of ten questions. To get an A, students needed to get 9 or 10 questions
VMariaS [17]

Answer:

a. 0.11

b. 110 students

c. 50 students

d. 0.46

e. 460 students

f. 540 students

g. 0.96

Explanation:

(See attachment below)

a. Probability that a student got an A

To get an A, the student needs to get 9 or 10 questions right.

That means we want P(X≥9);

P(X>9) = P(9)+P(10)

= 0.06+0.05=0.11

b. How many students got an A on the quiz

Total students = 1000

Probability of getting A = 0.11 ---- Calculated from (a)

Number of students = 0.11 * 1000

Number of students = 110 students

So,the number of students that got A is 110

c. How many students did not miss a single question

For a student not to miss a single question, then that student scores a total of 10 out of possible 10

P(10) = 0.05

Total Students = 1000

Number of Students = 0.05 * 1000

Number of Students = 50 students

We see that 5

d. Probability that a student pass the quiz

To pass, a student needed to get at least 6 questions right.

So we want P(X>=6);

P(X>=) =P(6)+P(7)+P(8)+P(9)+P(10)

=0.08+0.12+0.15+0.06+0.05=0.46

So, the probability of a student passing the quiz is 0.46

e. Number of students that pass the quiz

Total students = 1000

Probability of passing the quiz = 0.46 ----- Calculated from (d)

Number of students = 0.46 * 1000

Number of students = 460 students

So,the number of students that passed the test is 460

f. Number of students that failed the quiz

Total students = 1000

Total students that passed = 460 ----- Calculated from (e)

Number of students that failed = 1000 - 460

Number of students that failed = 540

So,the number of students that failed is 540

g. Probability that a student got at least one question right

This means that we want to solve for P(X>=1)

Using the complement rule,

P(X>=1) = 1 - P(X<1)

P(X>=1) = 1 - P(X=0)

P(X>=1) = 1 - 0.04

P(X>=1) = 0.96

You have a 12 volt power source running through a circuit that has 3kΩ of resistance, how many amps (in mA) can flow through the
siniylev [52]

Answer:

4mA

Explanation:

For this problem, we will simply apply Ohm's law:

V = IR

V/R = I

I = V / R

I = 12 volt / 3kΩ

I = 4mA

Hence, the current in the circuit is 4mA.

Cheers.
