How do you simplify exponent properties?

Mathematics

There are a few properties that will take a little while to learn, so reading this once will not necessarily teach you what you need to know.
1) exponent property of multiplication:
a^b(a^c)=a^b+c; what this means is if you have two terms with the same base multiplied by each other, you can add their exponents. Say that I have 2(2), we know that any singular number is raised to the first power. Both twos are raised to the first power so 2(2) is also 2^1+1, or 2^2. Similarly 2^2(2^3)=2^2+3=2^5. However if the terms have different bases this rule DOES NOT APPLY. (Sorry for caps, I needed emphasis).
2) exponent property of division:
a^b/a^c=a^b-c; what this means is that if you have two terms with the same base divided by each other you can subtract their exponents. For example 2^3/2^2=2^3-2=2^1=2.
3) exponent property of um... craziness: a^b^c=a^b(c); for this rule of exponents b and c don’t have to be the same. For example, if we have 2^2^3, 2^2^3=2^2(3)=2^6.
There are a few more, so these take patience, time, and attention to detail. I hope this helps a bit.

We can check each of these using the Pythagorean Theorem, a^2 + b^2 = c^2
Option A:
.5^2 + 1.2^2 = 1.3^2

.25 + 1.44 = 1.691.69 = 1.69
This option works
Option B
1^2 + 2^2 = 3^2
1 + 4 = 9
5 ≠ 9
This option does not work, but let's check the others to make sure
Option C:
6^2 + 8^2 = 10^2
36 + 64 = 100
100 = 100
This option works
Option D:
3^2 + 4^2 = 5^2
9 + 16 = 25
25 = 25
This option works

So, after doing the calculations, we see that option B does not work

Vijay missed 12 out of his last 16 free throws. Considering this data, how many of his next 20 free-throw attempts would you exp
PilotLPTM [1.2K]

The fraction computed shows that the number of his next 20 free-throw attempts that you expect Vijay to miss is 15.

How to solve the fraction?

From the information given, Vijay missed 12 out of his last 16 free throws. The fraction missed will be:

= 12/16

= 3/4

Therefore, the number of his next 20 free-throw attempts that you expect Vijay to miss will be:

= 3/4 × 20

= 15

Which of the following is the surface area of the right cylinder below?
yarga [219]

Answer:

if it is TSA- 396 or 395.64

if it is CSA- 88 or 87.92

Step-by-step explanation:

r=7

h=2

TSA= 2 pi r(r+h)

=2*22/7*7*9= 396

CSA= 2 pi r h

2*22/7*7*2=88

when you use pi as 3.14 instead of 22/7 you get the answer with the decimal symbol.. in such case the TSA would be 395.64 and CSA would be 87.92
