<h2>Explanation:</h2>

The complete question is attached below. In order to solve this problem, we'll use a graphing tool. First of all, we'll say that the LHS is a linear function and the RHS is another linear function, so for each case, we'll have:

f(x)=g(x)

For each graph, f(x) will be drawn in red while g(x) will be drawn in blue.

Case 1:

f(x)=\frac{1}{4}x+\frac{5}{2}x-2 \\ \\ g(x)=4-\frac{1}{4}x

So by equating both equations:

\frac{1}{4}x+\frac{5}{2}x-2=4-\frac{1}{4}x

By using graphing tool we get a point of intersection at which the x-value is the solution to our equation. So:

<u>Solution:</u>

\boxed{x=2}

See First Figure below.

Case 2:

f(x)=7.9x+x+4 \\ \\ g(x)=-1.1x-16

Applying a similar method as in case 1.

<u>Solution:</u>

\boxed{x=-5.8}

See Second Figure below.

Case 3:

f(x)=3.2x+5.7 \\ \\ g(x)=-2.5x

Applying a similar method as in case 1.

<u>Solution:</u>

\boxed{x=-1}

See Third Figure below.

Case 4:

f(x)=10.1x-1.6x+44 \\ \\ g(x)=-7

Applying a similar method as in case 1.

<u>Solution:</u>

\boxed{x=-6}

See Fourth Figure below.

Answer:

Answer: 1. 10.1x - 1.6x + 44 = -7

             2. 7.9x + x + 4 = 1.1x - 16

           3.  3.2x + 5.7 = -2.5x

           4. 1/4x + 5/2x - 2 = 4 -1/4x

8_murik_8 [283]

The amount invested in the mutual fund that earned 5% is $ 1000

The amount invested in the mutual fund that earned 3% is $ 1800

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

Given that , An investor invested a total of $2,800 in two mutual funds

Let the amount invested in 1st mutual fund be $n

Then the amount invested in the other mutual fund will be $(2800 - n)

One fund earned 5% profit while the other earned 3% profit

Then, profit earned by 1st fund ⇒ 5% of n

And profit earned by 2nd fund ⇒ 3% of 2800 – n

Investor's total profit was $104

Now, we know that,

<em>total profit = profit earned on 1st fund + profit earned on 2nd fund </em>

104 = 5% of n + 3% of ((2800 - n)

\frac{5}{100} n+\frac{3}{100}(2800-n)=104

\begin{array}{l}{\frac{5 n+3(2800-n)}{100}=104} \\\\ {5 n+3 \times 2800-3 n=10400} \\\\ {5 n-3 n=10400-8400} \\\\ {2 n=2000} \\\\ {n=1000}\end{array}

So, he invested $ 1000 in 1st fund at 5 % profit

And 2800 – n = 2800 - 1000 = $ 1800 in 2nd fund at 3 % profit
