Answer:

Suppose hamburgers are on the horizontal axis and root beer on the vertical axis. Your budget allowance is $10 and the price of hamburgers is $4 each and root beer $2 each. If at your present consumption of hamburger and root beer your marginal rate of substitution of hamburger for root beer is 4, to maximize utility you should consume more hamburger and fewer root beers.

Explanation:

At optimal point, MRS=Price of hamburger/Price of root beer.

Thus, slope of budget line=price of hamburger/ price of root beer= 4/2= 2

MRS=4

Therefore, slope of budget line < MRS which is not an optimal bundle.

However, we cannot change the prices, we can only change MRS.

In order to reduce the MRS, we have to consume more hamburgers. Reason being that, the law of diminishing marginal utility states that as we consume more of a good the utility derived from the additional unit reduces as the  rate of consuming a good increases.

So we need to consume more hamburgers so as to reduce the utility. Thus, Thus, the marginal utility, MU  of hamburger falls

Similarly,we will have to  reduce the consumption of beer so as  to increase the utility. Thus, MU of beer rises.

As MU hamburger increases/MU root beer decreases, MRS increases until MRS = slope pf Budget line.

Fey Corporation manufactures two models of office chairs, a standard and a deluxe model. The following activity and cost informa
alekssr [168]

Answer:

a) Standard WIP      75,000 debit

            factory overhead       75,000 credit

b) applied to deluxe model 28 setups x $   400 = $ 11,200

c) total overhead to deluxe: 35,200

Explanation:

\frac{Cost\: Of \:Manufacturing \:Overhead}{Cost \:Driver}= Overhead \:Rate

expected overhead:       120,000

total labor hours: 375 + 22 = 600

overhead rate: 120,000 / 600 = 200

applied to Standard model: 375 hours x $ 200 = 75,000

overhead cost for setups: $ 20,000

total setups (cost driver) 22  + 28

activity rate: $ 20,000 / 50 setups = $    400

applied to deluxe model 28 setups x $   400 = $ 11,200

overhead cost for component: $40,000

total components: 8 + 12 = 20

activity rate: 40,000 / 20= 2,000

applied to deluxe model: 12 x 2,000 = 24,000

<u>Overhead cost into deluxe model under ABC:</u>

setup overhead applied to deluxe model 28 setups x $   400 = $ 11,200

component overhead applied to deluxe model: 12 x 2,000 = 24,000

Total: 35,200

Indiana Co. began a construction project in 2021 with a contract price of $162 million to be received when the project is comple
barxatty [35]

Answer:

D) Recognized $8.91 million loss on the project in 2022.

Explanation:

The computation is shown below:

For Year 2021:

Percentage of work completed in the year 2021 is

= $40 ÷ ($40 + $84)× 100

= $40 ÷ $124 × 100

= 32.26%

Profit on the contract is

= Contract price - Already incurred cost - Expected cost

= $162 - $40 - $84

= $38

Profit to be recognized in the year 2016 is

= profit × percentage of completion

= $38 × 32.26%

= $12.256

For Year 2022:

Percentage of work completed in the year 2017 is

= ($40 + $65) ÷ ($40 + $65 + $52)

= $105 ÷ $157 × 100

= 66.88%

Profit on the contract is

= Contract price - Already incurred cost - Expected cost

= $162 - $40 - $65 - $52

= $5

Profit that should be recognized till the year 2017 is

= profit × percentage of completion

= $5 × 66.88%

= $3.344

Profit to be recognized in the year 2017 is

= $3.344 - $12.256

= 8.91 million loss
