Answer: a) 15, b) 1.

Step-by-step explanation:

A researcher studying public opinion of proposed social security changes obtains a simple random sample of 35 adult Americans and asks them whether or not they support the proposed changes. To say that the distribution of the sample proportion of adults who respond yes, is approximately normal, how many more Americans does the researcher need to sample in the following cases?

(a)    10% of all adult Americans support the changes

Here, np>5\ and\ n(1-p)>5

And , p=0.10

So, consider the equality, to find the value of 'n'.

np=5\\\\n\times 0.10=5\\\\n=\dfrac{5}{0.10}\\\\n=50

So, there are 50-35=15 more adult Americans needed.

(b)   15% of all adult Americans supports the changes

Here, p=0.15

So, again we get that

np=5\\\\n\times 0.15=5\\\\n=\dfrac{5}{0.15}\\\\n=33.33\\\\n\approx 34

So, there are 35-34=1 more adult Americans needed.

Hence, a) 15, b) 1.

For the inverse variation equation xy = k, what is the value of x when y = 4 and k = 7? 3 28
Oliga [24]

Answer:

The value of x is \frac{7}{4}.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that the inverse variation equation is

xy=k                  ..... (1)

The value of y is 4 and the value of k is 7.

Substitute y=4 and k=7 in equation (1).

x\times 4=7

Divide both sides by 4.

\frac{x\times 4}{4}=\frac{7}{4}

x=\frac{7}{4}

Therefore the value of x is \frac{7}{4}.

Fraction that is less than 5/6 and has a denominator of 8
Evgesh-ka [11]
See 5/6 is obviously more than 1/2 so 4/8 works
also 3/8 or 2/8 or 1/8

if you want all fractions then
5/6=x/8
times 24 both sides
20=3x
divide 3
6 and 2/3=x
basically x/8 such that x<6 and 2/3

examples
6/8
5/8
4/8
3/8
2/8
1/8
I would use the odd ones since the even ones simplify to non-eight denomenators
